    I have GOT to vent!

    Hi folks,

    I am dumbfounded over a pre-employment UA.

Hereâ??s my story and history -- Female / 5â??6 / approximately 140 lbs. I was pretty much a daily smoker (but smoked no more than one bowl at the end of the day at the most) until I stopped on December 14th. Then I took one tiny hit on December 30th. I took another tiny hit on January 9th. By the time I took my UA, I was completely clean for 32 days (almost 2 months clean other than those 2 small hits). I usually run a few miles and/or go to the gym a couple of times a week, not religiously though.

I had an interview for a fabulous job at the end of January, & they let me know that I would have to take a drug test & get a background check if I was offered the job. I went back for a second interview at the beginning of February. They called me after the interview, & we talked for a bit -- they said they were very interested in me if I wanted the job, & I made it clear that I was. I went in on Thursday, February 9th to fill out paperwork, sign the form for a background check, & get the paperwork for LabCorp. We talked about me needing to give my current employer 2 weeks notice before hopefully starting on March 1st.

I took a home test from Walgreenâ??s two days before my UA & passed with a very nice line (first void of the day, didn't worry about using mid-stream urine because I wanted to make sure to test it at its most concentrated level). Since I passed the home test, I decided not to dilute. On the day of the test, I did drink more water & Gatorade than normal only because I wanted to be able to pee when I took the test, but nothing crazy. I got to LabCorp & took the test just before 4 PM (used mid-stream urine, of course). The girl who took my sample said that the employer should have the results by Monday. **By the way -- on my chain of custody form, there is no contact information in the MRO section. Itâ??s just a big blank space.** Just for peace of mind, I stopped ay Wal-Mart on my way home & got another home test -- took it the next morning (again, first void of the day) & passed again with a nice line.

The last conversation I had with the employer was last Tuesday, February 14th -- I called to check in after taking my UA on the previous Friday, & they mentioned that they were waiting on my drug test results & my background check to come in. They said they would be in touch as soon as all of that was taken care of. Today is Thursday, February 23rd, & I havenâ??t heard a word from anyone. I called yesterday & left a nice casual message saying that I was calling to follow up because & see where I was in the process. I know they are in a hurry to fill this position, & they have been so good up until this point about staying in touch with me.

I was so sure I passed the UA, but now Iâ??m thinking I shouldnâ??t have been so confident.. I guess Iâ??m just posting to get this off my chest -- Iâ??m sure my husbandâ??s tired of hearing about it. I hate to say it, but I think I may be done with my extracurricular activites... This situation has me more stressed out than I think I've ever been.

Update! Just in case anyone is curious how my situation turned out, I PASSED! The background check took much longer than expected to come back, & the hiring manager was out of the office for several days. Success!
