Male or Female (HELP) 4 days on 12/12 cycle
Hey,
You need to relax a little
You wont be able to tell the sexes of your plants for maybe 2 to 3 weeks after switching from 18/6 to 12/12.
Four days won't give the plant enough time to react hormonally. It's a long time yet. What you are looking at is just a normal plant.
Those lumps and bumps along with the protruding green spike on the stem at where the leaf joins is normal.
Rest peacefully and come back to us in about 2 weeks and we can have a look.
Take care

No worries.
You can have a look at my journal and see when I saw the sexes of my plants.
I took about 2 weeks or more before I could tell. The link is in my signature.
Take care

I don't mean to challenge you here Leprechaun cuz I know all strains are different on timing, and I agree with what you said so far, I just wanted to throw in a little piece myself too. I was just gonna say that, being some strain's timing varies greatly, you could potentially see the sex of your plant in about one week. I have a hybrid I've been growing for a while now and it takes 7 days to show pistils once I move it from 20/4 to 12/12. If I were to let stuff wait 3 weeks without knowing the sex, and it turned out to be male.. 3 weeks would be enough time to almost be ready to release pollen. I just wanted to make sure that he doesn't go and ignore it for two weeks and then check for signs of gender. Its good to keep an eye on it, looking closely every few days or so.
The thing most people don't seem to understand about determining the gender of your plants is that if you just look at some pictures of early flowering males/females, you'll know what to look for, and your plant will clearly show it to you when its ready. And if you can't clearly tell what gender it is, then its way too early to cause a problem anyways. People get too scared about males when they first start growing, which is understandable, nobody likes to get a bag full of seeds, but new growers quickly realize its a much easier thing to figure out than they first thought.

True Minn,
I think everyone is excited to see the sexes during this time. Ill be that a day wont go by without MentalWelfare checking the plants.
Very true that they should be checked regularly. I have never seen a strain to react in 4 days to a point where I could tell the sex. I just wanted MW to relax.
But would expect him/her to keep an eye.
Here is a couple of pics to let MW know what to look for:

Yeah those are good pics... I forgot to say one more thing. It depends how mature you let your plants get in veg as well for how fast they show their sex in 12/12 lighting. Plants can mature to the point in veg where they show preflowers, so you could potentially see pistils while they're still in veg. Most people don't get that far because most plants need to get pretty large before they do anything like that. My big mother has had pistils showing for months now in some areas, even though its not actually flowering. Thats a big reason why the clones I take clearly show me their goodies 7 days into 12/12.

Thanks for all the replies. There isn't a day that goes by , that I don't tend to my plants. Like anything you do , it takes time to familiarize all the ins an outs of something, so I jumped the gun and thought I saw "Little Balls".
