When to harvest my 6 foot White Widow

When the pistol are about all red/brown check the trichromes. If they are cloudy with a few red/amber i would concider taking her.If the trichromes are more on the clear side then wait another week or so.

I can tell you are a newbie, you seem very impatient.A white widow will take 10-12 weeks to flower. So you have 5 week to go. The pistol will start to brown at 10 weeks or so.the the trichromes will really swell and produce that white look that give the plant its name.If you think it smell wicked now. just wait. The best is yet to come. Keep feeding it and dont touch any buds just let it go.If you wanna sample a bud at 10-11 weeks go for it. But leave it alone and stop bugging out about when it will be done.Time will pass either way. So just let time take its course with your ww and the final reward will be worth it. Next time i might suggest a breed that doesnt take as long. If you are looking to aquire smoke for yourself.Maybe somthing indica dominant.

When to harvest my 6 foot White Widow

    I grew some Widow.
    Here's the information you need.

Real White Widow takes 55 - 65 days.
Do not depend on pistil coloration.
    Many things can color them.
Pollination, physical trauma, temperature, overall health, etc.

And the Widow's pistils can stay frosty white right to the end.
    Hence the name.
The smell means you are getting there.
At 7 weeks is when the buds really swell.
At 8 weeks and change, she will be ready.

And there's nothing horribly wrong with taking a "sacrificial limb" for testing.
    We've all done it.
Only problem is, if you take a week to dry and try the rest will be at least a week older, yah?
The actual mix of side effects will necessarily differ.
So, all you get is an idea of the strength and taste.

That's exactly why I always stagger my harvest.
You can get three different sets of effects that way.

I take about 1/4 when the trichs are mostly cloudy.
Almost half of what's left at 10% amber.
I try to let the rest go a bit longer for the higher cbd ratio.

Another week or so and yeeha! Widow is excellent!

    Aloha,
    Weezard

It's pretty simple. When you want to know the right time you need to get tiny. Just looking at the plant doesn't really tell you much, not even rusty pistils.

Get yourself a 60x jewelers microscope off eBay for $5. you can keep a good eye on the development of the trichomes. It's the most accurate way.

Im growing big bud x northern light cross right now and I'm in week 11 of bloom and I still dont see amber/rusty trichomes. It's all about being patient.

They go from clear, to milky to rusty. If you like a energetic, uplifting high then harvest when you see 10 - 20% amber trichomes. I you like couchlock then wait for 70 - 80% rusty.

When trichomes are clear the trichs are a little premature. when cloudy they have a good THC content. Amber is the signal that the THC is breaking down into CBD.

I mix of CBD is good with THC. Just depends on the high you like. I will wait for 30 - 40% amber.

    The 60x microscope is vital.

Hope this helps. The guys added some great info on this thread too.

    Take care

I just took a sacrificial limb, as Weezard mentioned, tonight. Its going to hang at the bottom of the grow tent for a couple of days.

There must be 10 grams dry at least in it and it was one if the small limbs. I will get a really good harvest in this grow. And under LED too.

I was tripping off a gravity bong I made a few nights ago and that was from the plants I culled so the 2 remaining could prosper. Best move I ever made killing off a few plants to let 2 become big.

I have buds coming out my ass by now I expect you will too from your 6 footer Nice !

But to be honest I think it might be a big early for you to take a limb. I'm in week 11 or so. Taking a limb in week 6-7 would lose you plenty in the long run.

I would wait a few weeks, you will be thankful you did. When I'm done with the harvest I'll give a full tally on the weight I got from 2 plants. Will be shocking I'm sure.

LED is the future my man ! imp:
