Very dumb question, yet i cannot find an answer

Ok, being a first time grower i've chosen to go hydroponicly, One thing is eluding my common sense ok 2 things.

1 Do i germinate the seeds before planting them in the system?

2 this is the dumb question I was thinking about it when i create the system Am i essentially putting the seed in rockwool, putting the rock wool in the bottom of a dixie cup with holes in the bottom and letting the water splash up on the rock wool absorbing the water and getting it to the seed? or am i letting the seed grow in soil before putting it in here?

Very dumb question, yet i cannot find an answer

I like to germ my seeds in a damp paper towel placed into a bag for a couple days or until I see a tap root. I than, Carefully place the seed in a rockwool or plug. After a few days you should see the signs of what actually looks like a plant. Once I start to see a root coming from the bottom of my cube I than place it in my net with grow stones or clay(This is in a DWC system) I will fill my buckets up just to where the water is keeping my medium somewhat wet. I dont want to have the water touching my new tap root. I want it to have to work for a drink and grow through the rocks.

I hope this helped a little.

I start my seeds in Root Riot cubes that are inside the tray they come with. I fill the tray about a third of the way up ensuring that about one third of the root riot cubes are submerged with premixed nutrients. My premixed nutrients consist of the following...

3 regular dropper fulls, not drops, of flora micro, 3 dropper fulls of flora grow, two full droppers of flore bloom and one DROP of super thrive. All this in a gallon milk container, shake well and fill the tray as I said above and put under your lights you are using for your veg state, be sure to keep the level in your tray at one third, top off with regular water if needed. In two weeks time you will see roots coming out of the root riot cubes.... time to put into your hydro system.

    Happy growing!
