    anybody growing hydro with floros?

what kind of lights do you use and do you use bud hardener and does it work? I am trying to survey the field to see if it is worth using even if you don't use hid lights. The reason is because im under they impression that the lights are everything. i.e. nutrient uptake is solely dependent of the amount of light available for photosynthesis which in turn dictates the size and consistency of the buds?

Man, can I at least get a hint on whether it's that stupid of a question or just that ridiculous of an idea?

i have seen it done with 250 wall CF bulbs, the buds came out nice but tiny. Why bother with hydro if your not pushing the plants with lots of light? it seems like a simple 3 gallon soil bucket would be simpler? A lot can go wrong with a true hydro setup and its hard to get great flavor unless you really know what your doing. Use some good organic soil and a little organic grow and bloom and your guaranteed great tasking smoke without the risks of crop failure associated with hydro. just my opinion. good luck!!

I have grown using 10 26=100 watt cfl's from the red and blue spectrum. The bud was small and very wispy like a cotton ball. went out and purchased a 100 watt HID which means HIGH INTENSITY the bud was more compact on her clones the next time around. HID lighting made the difference. If your afraid of high electric bills you can go with a 100 watt one from say Lowe's or Walmart. look under yard security lighting.
There is no stupid questions. Just stupid answers. Keep the lights close say around 6 inches and avoid burn and all should be well. even if you take out $ 26=100 watt bulbs the HID lighting will more them make up the difference in lighting and use the same amount of electricity. Even if you use the HID lighting in flower it should not raise the bill that much. say your electric company charges you 10 cents per KILOWATT HOUR and you are using a 100 watt HID light like mine. that means you can run 10 hours for 10 cents so my bloom room runs me about 12 cents a day times 30 days = $3.60 for a bud that's more pleasing to the eyes as it is to the wallet. I doubt a whole $ 3.60 will raise any alarms but made wife's meds increase by 2/3.

I agree GateKeeper. I run 2 x 600 watt HID's at .14 /Kwh = 8.40 extra per month. So what, you had an extra AC or Space heater running.. lol. I had my electrician buddy wire me in 2, 240v outlets. If you have the resources it only costs about $100 for all the supplies, and the savings over 2 or 3 cycles is well worth it. Jus go to Lowes and get a 100w HID Security Light for about $75.
