i dont have a ton of cash to drop on a new set of led lights and i was wondring if the ufo lights on ebay are any good. i have a 1000w hps and 1000w mh that im using. trying to cut ele cost so help please

Replace your 1000wer with 2x 600wers. The draw less power (I know it's more watts but less is lost to heat) and you get better coverage. Depending on the area size you could even go with 2x 400w. Skip the LEDs unless you are willing to do your homework and pay $$ for a product that works.

That's spot on. I swapped 2 x 1k for 3 x 600 and the improvement is great. Switchable 600w digital ballasts are the ticket as for me. If you can buy online you should be able to get a brand name system (ballast/reflector/bulb) for about $430.

Don't skip the LEDs. LED lighting is the future of indoor cannabis growth. I'm using a product from advanced leds as a supplemental light for my HID's. You can see the results from my post today titled 'Harvest Time!'. There is a noticalbe increase of quality directly under the led. NASA also used leds on the space station and the shuttle for horticultural experiments. The top scientist in the world work for NASA, and if leds are good enough for NASA I figured why not. If you want to stay in the past and keep doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results, then by all means take the advice "skip the led".

You can also buy a splitter for your 1000 watt ballast, and then run two 600watt bulbs from your existing ballast. This product was featured in Maximum Yield magazine a few months ago.

How much would it cost for you to go all LED eliminating your HID systems altogether?

I would need $4,000 for 4 additional LED's, but I like the combonation of both HID HPS and the 11 band LED. I started experimenting with supplemental lighting in 2003 by adding some 200watt CFL grow bulbs. Adding additional light spectrums to my room has only benefited me. Keeping in mind the wavelength of light needs to be useful for photosynthesis.

Be careful with those eBay UFO LED lights, or any LED lights on eBay.

Most are Chinese rip-offs and are only made to look like a good light.

I paid good money for my LED light, 300 Euro I think... that's around $400 or so.

It runs on 190w and I supplement with 4 x 20w CFL just to produce some heat. (why not heat with light ?)

My first LED grow is coming to an end now. I made some mistakes because I'm a noob really. But I think I got some nice nuggets.

Have a look at the link below and you can make your own mind up. Don't buy crap off eBay. The company who make my light are quick to answer emails and the light is being tested by guys just like me. It works. So do other LED lights. Find a reputable company and light.

I checked out your grow. Nice bud, but the white spots look like spider mites

No, no spider mites. Just a magnesium deficiency I dealt with using some Epsom salts. All good now. Sorry if we are going off the point of LED lights.
