Basic question about germination / seedling stage.

I recently germinated my seeds and have planted them in a rockwool like little squares (i think the material is actually coconut shredding or something)
if the white "tail" that starts to grow is sticking up in the air out of the rockwool is this bad, will the roots grow properly ? [Some of the tails are like a whole inch out of their rockwool]

Do i need to replant the "seedlings" deeper in the rockwool so the whole white "tail" is burried.

    Thanks for the help

That tail should see no light or air! Air prunes the roots naturally.. So it could die if not attended to.. Get it deeper.. Be gental though!

Can I see a pic of that? Never had that happen before but a friend of mine sent me a picture of some weird growth coming out of the dirt. Wonder if its the same.

Is this tail you speak of the taproot??

What exactly is this product you are using?

    Pics would help tremendously..

I've had it happen to me. Tap root growing up, out of the soil, instead of down.

In Nature; stupid seeds die , quick!

I might be able to get picks sometime tomorrow. Ill keep you updated
product is just regular bag seed. I probably just was overly cautious and did not put the seed far enough down into the substance.

Shit son, my buddy thought he lost one of the seeds I gave him in his dirt somewhere and possibly planted another seed into the same spot, and the weird growth coming out of his dirt might be another seed, but what you're describing with the tap root sticking out sounds more accurate. Thats kinda funny I've never seen that, what the hell kinda plant doesn't know how to grow down into the dirt? Perhaps I gave him the wrong couple of seeds... I'll try to get some pics too from him.

Basic question about germination / seedling stage.

I've had a similar situation with some amnesia haze seeds I've just planted. I planted a dozen into compressed pete pellets, I had two of them sprout within two days and also noticed a little tap root under one of the pellets which was a seed I knew I had dropped but just left it. I planted this carefully into one of the 'vacant' pellets. One of the two other seedlings shot up so quick, it smashed into the propagator lid, hence the bend in the stem. I also noticed that the tap root had erupted through the side of the pellet. After reading this thread, I now know I should get this into a small pot or re-plant it to get that root into the soil so thanks for the tip!

Maybe you put the seed in the rock wool upside-down ? With the tap root pointing skywards ?

If the seed was shallow enough the tap-root would grow upward out of the rock wool and then begin to turn downwards.

    just an idea.

    Take care
