As someone not from CA (or any state where medical is legal) I'm wondering what an ounce costs on average from a shop. I know it depends on what you buy obviously, but I'm just curious what the average is for something common.

$200 - $350 depending on where you go.... I know of a local spot that offers $200 an ounce of what they consider their "top shelf".... It just really depends on where you go and who you know....

We need 16 grams a week to make brownies, we've made a deal with local dispensary for 16 grams for $60 for shake.

That's a top shelf shake that you can smoke and it's pretty much like buying a top or mid shelf bud. Need that quality for a decent batch of brownies.

Some places have some really nasty shake, immature buds really.

Be glad when we do some harvesting and stop buying it.

Maybe not. Due to legal expense's here in Calif. the prices are way up! One ounce of top shelf (LA Confidential) is $190 for a half an ounce. Price's go way down for 'lower' shelf.

Due to some urging here on LA Conf. I got some, tried it and am so not disappointed any at all. I do recommend the LA Conf. Great for sleeping and doesn't take much at all! :rasta: pr

On friday's at desert organic solutions , you can get an oz. for 150bucks. This week they have grape ape and some other one for 150. Then this other dispensary kush collective or something has shake for like 35 an oz.

In AZ at the patient to patient clubs 35-60 an 8th or 250-350 an oz is the reg. People are offering oz's as low as 200 on craigslist of their extra homegrown meds. As with pretty much everywhere you go you can never fully trust if the strain is what they say it is.

I have to say the prices are a bit silly aren't they? I l;ive in Eastern part of Ontario Canada and the usual price for an ounce bag is usually between 150 to 200 bugs,,I had run out of medical weed a couple of weeks ago and had to rely on my stepson to get me some and he picked me up some real shitty weed,,,the stuff was harsh, tasted bad and never got anything out of it except a numbing headache that lasted all evening,(price to pay when you get bad shit)..But for 200 bucks an ounce bag is very well worth it, quality weed,,,why you guys are paying so much in the states in beyond belief,,,these dispensaries are just out there making a quick dollar it seems to me,,the underground dispensaries that we have around here know that most of the Medical Marijuana Patients are low income people living on disability income or just don't have the money to be buying any type of weed for outrageous prices, they usually sell an ounce bag for under $125.00 and the weed is PRIMO,,TOP QUALITY,,,I think the reason dispensaries in the states charge so much is because they're always under the watchful eye of the law enforcement people and figure they can get busted or shut down at anytime thus making their money hand over fist before it happens. They can't be paying that much for the product from local producers and they have plenty of them knocking at their door with good shit at very low prices,,,The dispensaries hire and uses a lot of people to run their business but wouldn't they make a lot more money if the prices were cheaper and affordable for patients. It would take a lot of low level dealers who sell CRAP WEED out of business and patients would be almost garanteed on getting good medicine for their care,,,,,
My medical marijuana grower in B.C. sends me top quality bags by courrier every month and the agreed price is 50 BUCKS an ounce,,YES 50 BUCKS! He sends me my 5 bags every month and never have I been so satisfied with the product,,he grows for 3 patients and has an average of 60 plants growing at the same time and he said himself that the cost of setting up a grow room is expensive but once a few crops come in then it kind of pays for itself and therefore no need to charge an arm and a leg to his patients because he knows people with illness and disabilities cannot afford much,,so why can't dispensaries keep that in mind,

yeah if you buy from street dealers it's way cheaper. I used to pay like 80 an oz. but the quality wasn't great and there was always the same kind of weed. I like the variety and they have edibles and hash. They have some bud for like 400 and oz. I would never pay that shit. I think you just have to look around if it's a medical state like cali there are sure to be good deals. I like the dispensaries though. But I can always just grow my own and get it for free.

I remember growing up when an oz of top quality was about 200-300+. Now prices are 300-400 given that I live on the east coast US. These are all street prices. Even if you get a pound you don't get much of a discount.. 4000-4800. I've been saying for the longest that we need to fight to get ounces down between 150-250 and pounds 1600-3200. That is at least somewhat affordable. These east coast guys have a terribly superficial consumer mentality and they dont believe in sacrifice and production. Nonetheless my goal as a young grower is to oz's of top shelf down to 150-200 on average which is half the price it is now. Nobody should have to pay that much for herb.. just like people who want good quality organic food shouldnt have to pay that much to eat.
