we only have about 4 feet of growing space from bottom of plant to the light hood so we cant grow tall plants, so i figured the smaller pot would suffice. i was thinking of going 12/12 when it gets to be about a foot tall, or about a week or two

Ok first of all you are a long way from needing bigger pots in my opinion. The pots you have can be used for quite some time. Tuff to tell from the pics, but a bigger pot is the least of your issues.
Smokinlowrider is correct with the 18/6...in my opinion. 24/0 is what some people prefer but I know my plants flourish under 18/6 and stress under 24/0.
Your space is enclosed, yet you leave it open?
Which one is it? Open or closed?
Make up the schedule and live by it. When you leave the unit open, you are allowing light to escape...
I said before, you will need to remove the heat....no ifs about it. a fan blowing and an open door doesnt remove the heat.
Get rid of the heat or the heat will get rid of the plants.

its in a bathroom indoors but the bathroom door is always atleast cracked, theres also an air conditioning vent in the bathroom that lets in a little cool air, thats about the extent of the cooling tho. only option is a small air conditioner or something i guess

While an AC will help, it can only lower the air it intakes by a certain amount of degrees. The larger the unit, the lower the air temp can be made.
The air around the light will be very hot.
Put at least one large fan blowing OUT of the bathroom.
Create negative flow and make sure one fan is blowing on the lights and another fan blows, or rather, pulls the air OUT of the room.
Hot air rises so see what you can come up with.
A more detailed view of your grow room would be helpful...Any posts made by me are purely fictional in nature and by no means is anything I say to be taken seriously. its basically just a regular shower stall bro, like 4.5 x 3 feet base, and i suppose a 7 or 8 foot ceiling.

I suggest you buy a good 250CFM fan and vent it into the attic. You could run some duct hose to the blower and right out the ceiling.
Just position the mouth of the intake hose vent right on the side of your light box.

By looking at those pics. I still say you will need larger containers. If you grow a 3foot plant that equals to 3 gallons of dirt. that the minimum.
