White Widow ready for flowering technique
Attachment 281321Attachment 281322Attachment 281323I remember when I used to grow many years ago someone had told me that about 2 weeks before your plants are ready for flowering, start playing with the light cycle,,,During the veggie state, i keep the 1000 wt lite on 18 hours a day till the plants reach about 3- 4 feet in height, then about 2 weeks before going to budding, I start playing with the lite, I decrease the lighting to 16 hours for 3 days, then 14 hours for a few more till they're ready for the new lite cycle,,it speeds up the budding that way, as seen in my plant pics that's been under 16 hours of lite and now she's at 14 hours of lite, and in a few days they're going in 12 hour cycle, as you can see the plant is doing very nicely along with the others,
it's now starting to bud very nicely already,,will keep you posted on how it turns out.Bass3rd Reviewed by Bass3rd on . White Widow ready for flowering technique
I tried something like that with my grow box, my timer has little half hour sliders so I just slid one every day to take it from 18 to 12. I was thinking a shock was good to trigger them into flower but I'm avoiding any sort of shock now.
I had too many shocks and got a lot of hermies with some plants.

That's one way to do it.
Force Flowering (going right to 12/12) will actually save you time. That is one of the reasons that method is so poular among many growers.
Looking at your pictures, I notice the container your plant is in is very small. root development is directly related to your plants health and will greatly impact your yield.
If you repot that plant into a container that is double the size of the one you are using you can potentially double your yield. Keep in mind your plant will get much larger during flowering.
The second benefit to repotting that plant is that you wont have to deal with your plant becoming root bound part way through flowering which will not only decrease your yield, but also the bud quality.
Repotting earlier next time will save you a lot of time in veg as the roots will grow unrestricted. As roots become restricted and meet resistance, they are not able to grow as fast. This leads to slower plant growth and potential for disease to set in and cause further problems. One of the reason plants grow so much faster in hydro is because roots dont have to push through much grow medium if at all, and gravity often assists root growth. This, combined with pre-chelated nutrients makes for some mind blowing growth rates and yields.
the only reason I mention the hydro thing is for example only. I realize you're in soil, but the same principals apply. Repot your plant=bigger plant, healthier roots, better yield and bud quality.
Also, If you do repot, try to use the same soil mix you used before. lightening the mix to reduce resistance at this point will make for problems because your core root ball will always hold more water than the soil surrounding it. This will deter the roots from growing into the new soil because, after all, roots are always in search of food and water, and they will resist groing from a wet environment into a dryer one...
Side note: dont cut your soil more than 50/50 with perlite (depending on the mix). too much perlite will allow the soil to dry out too quickly in spots and the roots wont want to grow into it.
I am listening to Tool and drinking coffee... so I am just typing as fast as I can think.
Keep up the good work.
Hope this helps...If I pollinate a plant in the corner of my basement, does that make me a breeder?:i feel stupid:
If you have questions, feel free to message me. The more successful growers there are out there, the better this world is!

White Widow ready for flowering technique
The pic don't do it any justice,,the pot the plant is in is actually 4 gallons and that plant is exactly 3 ft 10 as we speak,,I think the pot is large enough in size,,I have 8 plants going in flowering as we speak 6 White Widows and 2 Northern Lites all between 3 1/2 ft to almost 5 feet and all in those 4 gallion pots,,,they seem to do the trick,,reason for using them is because of the room I was using to grow them in was not that big in size,,but now they're in my new grow tent and I still have some room left for a few more,,we'll see next time,,maybe I'll grow them out of the bathtub ,,lol,,,
