based on the CFL lighting I am getting the impression that you are doing this on a budget.
Growing on a budget isnt easy, and it gets significantly more difficult when growing in a hydro set-up.
Do yourself a favor and dont begin this set-up until you get a pH meter that works well, and a PPM/EC meter. Test strips and Hanna products dont count
The other thing you want is at least a 400w grow light if you can only afford 1 get the HPS.
And... for the love of all hydro set-ups, keep your tubes and res. light proof. a little light makes for huge problems.
Use chemical nutes in hydro. I have done organic and chem nutes in hydro and organic hydro is a major headache.
Just stick to the chem nutes and constantly check your pH and PPM.

...Oh yeah, read books lots of them, and dont be afraid to ask questions.
