the 45 micron is definitly for smoking or vape-ing.

The 220, the first pile I made is smoking quality, the second for cooking.

it can be pressed into hash.

the consistency of the 45 is like a super light playdough, completely dry.

I put a small bud in the bottom of a pipe, then cover it with kief. Light one tiny piece of the edge, and it will slowly burn all the way across the bowl, with no need for a lighter after the first puff.

Look at it with a microscope or good handheld scope. The dry ice hash samples that i have seen tend to have a little bit more plant fibers in them than regular ice water hash. I think that is why the resulting volume is increased so much. The extra has to come from somewhere.

It does seem much easier than the ice and water process and the quality seems to be sufficient. I've yet to try it, but it's on the "to do" list.

try it. shake lightly and crush the dry ice up into super small chunks/dust so the ice doesn't crush the material up too much. the 45 micron run is the most amazing super light yellow stuff I've ever seen. When switch to 220, When a hint of green starts to come through, start shaking a new pile, and use that for cooking. I have a usb scope, I'll see about posting something later if I can find it.

if you are going to buy dry ice... a few pounds of dry ice is enough to process a bunch of material. BUT, it disappears quickly (a 10 lb bag will pretty much disappear in 24 hrs), so don't buy the dry ice until you are ready to go.

Highly concentrated: tips for better hash from Colorado's best - Denver News - The Latest Word

This is one of the best articles I've seen on the subject for a while. Since we started adopting some of Nick's techniques, we've managed to get full melt extractions using just water. Some of his best tips:
    - Keep your water COLD. Dish gloves can help your hands deal with some of the shock.
    - Make sure everything you use is CLEAN. If you wouldn't want it in your hash, don't leave it in your bags/bucket/washer.
    - Use high quality water. Since switching to RO, or reverse osmosis, the difference is amazing.

I'm kind of a hash hound, so if you're just starting out, don't worry if you don't have RO water on hand or if you're mixing the wrong trichome heads together. Have fun with it and watch your back! A good hashing sesh can leave you quite sore.
