there's no real way to enhance the thickness of the stem. IT thickens with age, when i harvested my 3 month old plant, the stem was a good 3/4 of an inch in diameter...it was a bitch to cut through

Weed stems blowing in the wind do indeed create micro tears in the stem cellular structure. When repairing the cells, the plant will repair and then add an extra layer of collagen at the point of repair to 'prevent' the structure from breaking down again.

Stems are like bones....you will never break a bone in the same place twice. The repair site is indeed thicker than the unbroken part.

I think in addition to the winds, Bobbong is correct in that light is the other factor affecting girth of stems.

Other than that, is the usual genetics, nutes and environment. I think it all plays a role, even if in a minute degree.

    I figured fans/blowing wind was a given.

if possible, put the plants outside for an hour or two every so often so the plant can blow around naturally for a bit

    I question this practice.

Not saying its wrong, but, I question the overall strategy.

Moving in and out forces several variances of stress on plants.

    Adjustment to outdoor temperatures stresses.
Adjustment back to indoor temperatures stresses.
Risk of pest infestation outdoors increases.
Adjustment to outdoor light spectrum and intensity stresses.
Adjustment back to indoor light spectrum and intensity stresses again.
Fear of being seen by weed haters causes stress (on grower not plant)

Stress in plants appears to have a real relation to the sex of the plant... the more stress, the more males.

However, the more stresses on a turned female plant can increase THC production if done without the specific stress that cause a female to turn hermie.

I still say the fan is the single handed best way to increase stem growth, which, is primarily designed to support flower weight and growth.

A fan moving air around CalMag Plus and a silicate formula like AN Barricade will substantially strength the plants cell wall and vigor. At harvest mine are about 3?-5? round and I could not grow without that stuff.

5" round stems frm an indoor grow?

Not that I am not convinced, however, could I see a pic of one of those stems?

What is the tree, 10' tall?

I would love to have a 5" wide penis, but would kill for a 5" plant stem.

    hehehhehhehehhehee
