Those glue traps are horrible. The mouse gets hopelessly stuck and covered in it's own feces and urine and suffers from multiple types of violent trauma.. Often you're left with few options after getting them on the glue trap; discard the trap and mouse alive in which case it will eventually die or else you can quicken their demise by violent means. I used them once and will never use them again. If you want the thing dead there are enclosed traps that they crawl into and it slams shut killing the mouse rather than the traditional snap-bar type trap that it seems you mentioned.
