If I were buying a traditional light today I'd get an adjust-a-wing with the optional light spreader. It's not air cooled though but damn nice looking piece of technology. Perhaps I'm being sucked in by the marketing but I like the idea of simulating different seasons not to mention the more efficient use of light. Seems an adjust-a-wing with a 400w would cover 3 x 4 although 600w would probably do better unless you went CMH... let us know where you end up.

The way I see it, I'd love to have my cabs outside and open just the tops of them to catch the suns energy.... Since I can't really do that, I'm trying to create it....and these reflectors happen to attract my way of thinking for the space I have.... I'm sure you'll end up with what you think works best for you....I know I will........

ty bigsby and cangrowit.i was only thinking yesterday will i neeed a aircooled? the reasoning behiund the aircooled was that i would use a dimmable 600w and run 75% for veg and 100% for flower since my room is only a bit of left over space and cant be changed(its acgtually 2.5 foot x 4 foot) and because of the shape i thought i might get a reflector that fits that space perfect... sorry i am rambling..
maybe i should get the adjustaving that bigsby says and just see how i get on with heat

So long as you have ventilation for the room you should be fine. You do have ventilation running, yes? Also, you can easily get away with a 400w bulb which will lower both heat and cost. I am partial to CMH based on a friend's grow (I am locked in to LEDs which do just fine though I'd do it differently if I were starting again - I'd use LEDs for veg and a 400w CMH with an adjust-a-wing to cover my 3 x 5 space). Have you considered running a SCroG setup? It is ideal for small space hobby growers like us.

hey bigsby.. had a 300w led panel that i did a scrog with but sadly it stopped working halfway true second grow, but anyway it was only 3 watt chips and the store i bought it from is now blurred out on the net as a scammer so tried it and never again. ty ledstores for that lesson.
but i will scrog again and was planning on doing it first chance in this small set up. just need to find the right reflector for my odd space(2.5x4 foot)
thanks for your advice bigsby always great when somebody take the time to help strangers.
ps. ever used bloombastic from atami??

Oh 30" isn't much room to work with for a reflector. Still, the medium adjust-a-wing should fit. Dimensions are 22L" X 24W" adjustable to 27". I think it would cover your space nicely. The super spreader would help with the heat however you're going to need an exhaust fan no matter what you go with. See adjustawing.com and also look for the informational video on youtube.
I do use bloombastic. It's super hot. I give 1/5 the recommended dose at weeks 3, 4, and 5 in flower. It seems to be very effective. I got the free trial bottle and it's lasted forever. I'll probably buy more when it runs out in a year or two.
I did a lot of homework before sinking cash into LED panels. They are crazy expensive. I went with LEDs b/c I was concerned about heat plus I don't like the idea of an HPS burning in my basement. Turns out my fan can deal with just about anything so my heat concerns were overblown (ha ha ha). Mine has 3w diodes too which is pretty good. It has done very well although from what I can tell it takes about 1 - 2 weeks longer for flowers to ripen.

Death before LED....:smokin:..
Not all reflectors are created equal. For strong HID lights like 600 or 1000 watts...
....dimpled reflectors are better than polished...IMO
(ps...never clean a polished reflector...just don't let it get dirty)
