LED grow testing the Pro-Grow 260.

Nice random, nonsense, post on a grow log krysty.... or was there some sense to it ? That was a rhetorical question by the way...

Might also be a good idea, if you want to show of your buds, to start a new grow log or put it on a page related to everyone's buds.

I'm taking that you are new. You don't post YOUR buds on another persons grow journal. Lucky they don't let you post pictures until you have more than one post.

But you still went ahead and posted the text... Think before you post.

I decided to take a sacrificial limb or 2 just to see how things are smoking. The bigger bud in the picture is as round as it is wide and it's only one of the small ones.

The branch that was holding it up gave way under it. It is very dense and tight. I watered them yesterday so it will be heavy with H20 at the moment.

The smaller branch was chopped 3 days ago and is in a glass storage jar with a hygrometer which reads 64% on it. Just where I want it

So anyway, I took a couple of pics for those interested in my little grow. I think I did very well considering the odd few hiccups I had along the way. We are all learning I guess.

So enjoy, I know I will Let me know what you thing of the look of the buds. The next post will be harvest and curing. Then it will be at an end.

But dont worry, I'll start a new one !

    Hey all.
So I decided to take some more pics as it has been over 2 weeks since I made a post, even in my blog...

I still can believe that these trichomes are still clear to cloudy... It's taking forever ! This is week 13 of bloom by now ! They have been growing 18 weeks ! Waaaghhh ! Patience !
I took about an ounce off one of the plants. The pistils are still bursting out of the buds. Some buds are beginning to look deformed by the new growth. Growth is good though
I really hope I see 80% cloudy and 20% amber trichs soon.

The LED light I have allows me to switch between veg and bloom. I normally just leave both spectrum on at the same time. But for the last bit of this bloom I will use just the red and CFL.
The red LED's make the plants look great when photographed. An Emilya said that I was a little artistic so I decided to show off my red babies !

So there has been no Photoshop to make my plants look skinnier or stereotypically beautiful... It's all pure green baby ! Just with a bit of slutty red light Heh Heh !

    Way to go, S.L..
    Some very attractive buds.

    A li'l tip for ya.
You might be waiting a very long time for 20% amber.
Outdoors, UV has a hand in the ambering.
LEDs are narrow band emitters that have almost 0 UV.
Found that out on my first leds grow.
Let a WW go senescent waiting for amber.
My solution, before I got my card, was to add some "royal blue" leds at the end of bloom.
They leak a little UVa and that helped.
(Tried a strong UVc source and cooked a branch).
Now, I jus' chuck 'em out in the sunlight to tan up for the last few weeks.

Might wanna snatch n flash-dry a bud per week until you call them finished.
Because there are strains that never seem to amber and continuously sprout new trichs.
(Gave up on a Thai strain after 16 weeks outdoors in the tropics.)

    Still lurking,
    Weeze

    Hey Weeze

Thats a really good point. Perhaps I am waiting a bit too long. There is still some bud growth but a few buds look a little deformed because of it.

I am beginning to see some amber now but not a large amount.. I will wait until the pots are dry and Ill be giving them a hacking. I watered them for the last time.

I have 4 more seedlings ready to go as soon as they are down.

The LED light I have has two 3w UV blubs and 2 IR, it is 7 band I believe. I also have 80 watts of CFL in there too. But I see the point in the narrow band of light emitted.

The next upgrade to my LED light is 14 band plus IR and UV.

Thanks for the compliment on the buds. I pruned all the dying leaves today to create much more light penetration. No need having them in the way.

I have been taking buds here and there for the past 2 weeks as you mentioned. Good god... those buds are nice ! Very nice !

I am between minds on letting some more bud growth carry on as I see only 5 - 10% amber. Or hack them down and get started on the new generation !

What are your thoughts on that ? Will I wait or germinate the new girls now ? Hmm... I have 3 more feminised BBxNL and an AK47 to germinate.

Enjoy the pics. If anyone has other ideas as to what has happened to this one plant I would like to hear it.

I've got one doing this, or similar. My pH got way off, (mid 5's) and led to symptoms of Mg/Ca deficiency, brown spots and some leaves got crispy. I've flushed her, and am now waiting to see if it improves.

The last pic, are the spots white of yellow? My first thought seeing the thumbnail was spider mites, but the full size pic looks more like early signs of deficiency.

Before adding more nutes, check the pH.

    Thanks Endive

I will keep that info in mind. I have already began the harvesting process. Only one plant left standing at the moment and it wont be for too long either.

I have 4 new ladies between some kitchen roll ready to germinate for the next round ! I'm thinking of adding a lot more CFL to this grow during bloom. Maybe 4 x 85w, 2700k.

I think they will make a big difference to the yield. I will just hang the 4 CFL amongst the 4 plants keeping them surrounded and close to maximise the coverage.

Those buds sure are smoking good now yummy ! I think I will look into ways to cure the buds externally as its too late to water them again.

Any ideas on some strawberry extract oil or something I could use ? Something to impregnate the taste and smell during the curing process. What can I use for that ?

Some pics of the set up so far. The plants are doing fine. As you can see by my thermostat, 21 degrees Celsius is about 70 degrees Fahrenheit. I decided to put that in just in case I get any American readers. Another rule of thumb is 12 inches is equal to 30 centimetres. I might use both imperial and metric systems in this blog.

In the photos you will see the 4x20w CFLs hanging over the edges of the Pro-Grow 260. The temperature has increased thanks to them. And Iā??m sure the plants are enjoying them even though they are so small. The Pr0-Grow 260 is very bright and it is difficult to look at the LEDs even from the side.

I must tell everyone that I do not work for the company who produce the Pro-Grow series and I am in no way affiliated with the company. I just did some homework before buying and spoke to other LED growers out there. One who was a great help is this person: Pro Grow 260 LED Grow Light Review | Growing Medical Marijuana He/she gave me lots of advice and told me what works for them. Iā??d like to thank them for all their help.

I trawled eBay for an LED grow light and read all the reviews I could find. After a huge amount of research I finally decided on the Hydroponics Hut, Pro-Grow 260 series (2011). They offered a huge warranty and I also read on forums that they uphold this too. Also, they offer free postage to Europe and gave me a discount to boot. They are very friendly and answered every question I had promptly.

Ah,yes, they are very polite and friendly,I also contacted with their owner last year, but for some reason, we did not get an agreement on the business.
