    LED Grow update no.19, January 21st, 2012

    Hey all.

So here is the 19th update on the grow. Everything is going to plan all the way to this point. I am happy to say that I haven’t had any major issues with the plants so far.

The experimental feed that I am using is giving the plants what they need if not more. The only deficiency in the grow was a magnesium issue. That was resolved very quickly with some Epsom salts. Someone told me that the nitrogen seems to be a little high in some plants as the leaves are too green but now that I am only feeding with water this issue will fix itself. I gave 2 plants a little more Epsom salts today, a small spoon between them in the water. So far the Pro-Grow has lived up to what Hydroponics Hut promised. They really have built a great LED light. I can already see a return on the investment I made in the light. At this stage I can recommend this light without hesitation to anyone who wishes to try this technology. I have saved a fortune on electricity as the Pro-Grow only uses 190 watts. The four 20w CFLs are another factor of course but the entire tent is running on less than 300w (including extractor, timers, and fan).

Harvest can't be too far away now

God damn ! I wish these trichs would turn amber already !

I have cutting ready to go down to the bloom room and they are beginning to stink my sitting room up a bit. They are in the second part of my twin DRT90 Secret Jardin tent. Strangely, one of the cuttings has begun to bloom in the veg tent. The lights are set for 18 on / 6 off. I don't know why this happened. Perhaps I stressed them a little. I am becoming very impatient as I can smell the plants in the veg tent clearly in my sitting room... Waaagghhhh.... And so can others if they come in here. Ill give it one more week. All trichs are clear still in week 8 -9 and I haven't seen one amber.

Ill give it another week and then the axe is coming out.... HERE'S JOHNNY !

    LED Grow update no.20, February 1st, 2012

    Hey all.

So hereā??s whatā??s been going on. As I mentioned before, the tent was too overcrowded. 2 plants had basically taken over the entire tent. I took out the other 4 plants and cut them down. I made a little hash and I have only about an ounce off them all. It was a little disappointing in this regard. It was entirely my own fault by letting the plants veg too long and get too big. The good news is that the remaining 2 plants have big buds on them.

Just one top on one plant is looking like everything I got from the plants I killed. So, if 2 plants have nice sized buds then the light must be doing its thing. Those 2 plants took over the tent and won the battle for the light hands down. I will grow 4 plants in the next grow from the cuttings I planted. The cuttings took a long time to take root and begin to grow. As soon as I changed them into the new pots with the soil from a plant from my current grow they took off. The high nitrogen content of the soil helped those cuttings explode in growth.

Iā??ll post some pictures of the nuggets in my tent. I see a few ounces on these plants, even though they were in competition with the other 4 plants I removed. There should not be much left in this bloom. Iā??m looking forward to putting the cutting into the tent soon. This time I will be careful not to overcrowd the tent. Live and learnā?¦

What I have noticed since I removed the 4 useless plants is that the last 2 plants are really filling out. Very fast growth on the buds...

    LED Grow update no.21, February 10th, 2012

So it’s week 10.5 and the 2 remaining plants have exploded in growth. The best decision I could have made was making the bloom room less cluttered. Removing the weaker plants resulted in the last 2 strong plants producing very nice buds. The plants were competing too much for the light but now they could not be happier.

The LED light really has impressed me. It has the potential to create very nice buds and even the veg stage was shockingly good. Just by looking at these plants I can see that I have made a return on my investment. I saved over 60% on energy costs and I got some fine buds to boot. I have learned some valuable lessons in this grow. Firstly, do not let plants veg for more than 4 weeks under the Pro-Grow 260 as I grow in a short tent. The plants turned into monsters in a very short space of time. Never underestimate the veg power of the Pro-Grow ! Secondly, do not overcrowd the tent thinking you will get more bud as there are more plants. I learned this the hard way. I will keep the plants shorter (2 feet) in future and never put more than 4 plants in the tent. If I only grew a small amount of plants I would have a huge amount of bud right now. There is a lot on these plants but the overcrowding created a war for the light between the plants. Enjoy the pics and I will post some more pics of the harvest and I’ll give you some figures on the yield too. I’m sure it will be a very nice weight by the looks of things. I will be starting a new grow soon.
