No only water, you do this to remove the nutrients in the plant so you dont smoke them. If you dont do that your bud will be harsh to smoke, nutes make you cough. You can buy a rinsing/cleaning solution like taste buds to help you get rid of the nutrients also.

You will see that the buds are mature when the hairs from the bud start to turn brown, wait untill ~50% of them are brown and harvest. this is one way of knowing. More experienced growers look at the thc with a magnifying glass to see if it's ready.They look at color(clear,foggy or amber) and the look of the resin gland(small mushroom like resin formation) it self. And then depending on growers preference they decide if it's time to harvest or not.

CH, you have any pictures of examples of this resin gland? My first batch is getting close to 8 weeks into flowering. I've been trying to look at the trichs, but would like to hear some more about this resin gland as well. This patience thing is killing me Thanks!

Dont wait till all the trichs turn amber you will see the resin glands start to deteriorate, they will bend a little. It's a personal preference!

Hey peeps i'm just starting out got my grow room set up and had my plants under the light for 24/0 for 6weeks, im struggling whether to put them on flower just now or wait, but im also struggling to sex them both but i think ive got a female and a hemaphrodite but im not sure, ive taken some pics but im gonnae have to wait till i do more posts to post them eh? can anyone tell me when i'll be able to post pics? any help would be much appreciated but obviously u wont know till i get the pics up lol

Rofl @ Audi331. You must be a miracle grow salesman? hahaha. I agree miracle grow is terrible, I just loved the way you put it, never heard of it actually directly lowering the thc level... but it actually makes sense by growing the plant in poorer/hostile conditions. I think it might be getting a little bit too late for me tonight, I'm still laughing for some reason...

Hey bak3ed, I'd be surprised if you could identify the sex of the plants clearly at their current stage, putting them into a flowering photo period is the way to have them show it. You can also let them mature enough in veg to the point where they develop full, clearly distinguishable pre-flowers, which are the same as the normal flowers of course just smaller and around larger nodes, but doing that indoors requires quite a bit of space and not everyone has that available, so if you don't I would recommend force flowering at around 6 weeks into veg. Just make sure that it is grown up enough to essentially be a full adult plant, because it will continue to stretch out in size about twice as large during flowering.

As for when can you post pictures.. its either once you've made 25 or 50 posts, I don't remember, but I believe it was mentioned earlier on the first page of this thread. Also in the future its always considered curteous to start new topics of discussion in new threads to help reduce confusion between trying to explain two different solutions for two problems.
