It's time to Occupy!

edit-this post was written after #39 and I am giving up here! Bye-friends. Lost my writing twice!

Hey! Wait a minute here- I REPRESENT THAT! I live here and was born here, can't help it! Can't undo what has been done. Most of us 'Americans' are part Indian. Problem is: You can't get records from long ago Petrogliths that have weathered away! One local Indian Res (of Many) in my community is crying because their monthly check has been diminished to 17K per month tax free. Then, receive all the welfare, land and food subsidies we can manage to give them on the 'Rez'. Eventually, we will finally be the 'melting pot!' Which brings me back to Pot!

If dispensary owner's ran our Gov't: The 'dime bag' that is now 80 bucks would soon be $300. and figure out how much an ounce of medicine would be? Could anyone afford to live here?

Gold, have read something in here about that in another thread. If 3K in taxes in the 'olden days' would be 75K today! How many people even make that much a year? That is a problem with what is wrong in this country-minimum wage has not kept up with inflation! Incentives and postal work! Well, the management in our Federal Postal system gets "Pay Incentive". And the price of stamps goes up every other year. 40 years ago, price of stamps seldom went up that fast. Yep, stamps will be $0.45 in January and the Post Office has closed numerous offices, dismissed over 150,000 injured workers in 2009 alone and continue to do decrease employees while giving the Management large 'pay incentives.'

Guess you already said the word "Greed." And that pretty much covers alot of area!

Now, please 'friends' I come in here because it is not in the Political Thread and hope not to get insulted with the usual name calling/ This seemed like an 'inviting' friendly thread to start off. Hopefully, it will return to that. So, don't stomp on me too hard, I am sensitive! And most likely pretty liberal. You can call me names, but I do believe in Democracy and like Baseball or any sport, sometimes the Ref's just make a bad call. It isn't the bad call that makes a game (like the Cardinals last night) but what you do with it and how you behave! Making Lemonade!

I generally stay out of the 'Political' section, as it mostly comes to slaying each other with a few facts, some rheotroic and name calling, like 'land thieves, liberal, socialist, etc. . .' I am no PC person or would could find and paste some stuff. Just a pot flag waving liberal, I would hope! I believe we are all entitled to our own opinion and need to be open to the idea of 'being wrong.' Yet, we ARE entitled to our opinions! Slinging mudd and name calling only clouds the issues!

This looked like a friendly little 'inviting' toss in your info if you will and be welcomed thread. As, posting is a problem today, for some reason, and losing an hour worth of typing, not worth re-doing (but it has happened to me a few times over the years and today) and nice to see I have good company!

Since this said, "Feel Free. . . " to add and say what you want. I would like to bring up an article I read, while on a trip from Ohio back home in August. I picked up a local 'Free' paper in Needles, CA in 113 degree heat. The paper was called: Economic Development Journal of Mojave County (that would be bumfuck California). I am not a great one to look up data in PC's, so I kept the article. As I sit here, it is written by Ellen Brown The QE2 Shocker: The Whole $600 billion wound up offshore! Article in August 2011 edition. A little PC help here, if you will, fellows would be appreciated? The U.S.A. borrowed money, not once, but twice. It was suppose to stimulate the American economy and instead it went to stimulate the economy overseas and the American Gov't is paying interest on it. Instead of 'Pay Incentives' perhaps we should give 'bounties' to those that can stop Gov't Waste.

If the Gov't were run as we do our household budgets, it would be in better shape. That is: For those of us that didn't run out and get a loan, way over our head of what we could appreciably pay back over 40 years of our life! We aren't having problems paying a mortgage-oops, if we have one. It isn't too hard to buy a home within your means and pay higher monthly payments on the "principle' of the loan for an early pay-off. Perhaps, it may be time for a woman to run the Federal Budget of U.S. of A. and make everything used in the nation be within the 'means' of the nation. If you don't have the money, don't spend it. If you don't have the money to put a roof over your head, then don't pay for someone else's. Simple math. Not too complicated. Balance your checkbook and expect the money you pay in taxes is used in a similar fashion.

Nothing is perfect and it generally boils down to the 'chicken or the egg question?' We all must compromise and find a solution.

My solution is: Putting out some Local Information as this thread ORIGINALLY was requesting from my tiny little stolen area of the world. And here it is: In Los Angeles (and Riverside) people are coming out to the "Occupy" in Los Angeles to protest wages, individual & group interest or Rights. Norml/ASA and MAPP are protesting anti-mj laws: YOU ARE INVITED to go out and "look like a flag waving idiot" as some here would see it: The Following is not written by me: Just passing on Information and hope you
Hop On, Hop On The Bus
To ASA
Stop the Attack Rally

Monday, October 24th
at 12 noon
Edward Roybal Federal Building
Downtown Los Angeles
255 E. Temple St.

Take the Bus to the Rally!!!!!!

Thanks to the generous donations of collective operators there will be a bus going to ASA’s LA Federal Building Rally on Monday, Oct. 24. You can ride with your friends and make new ones and what is sure to be an exciting and eventful day.

The bus will drop you right off at the rally where you can join the multitudes assembled to protest the federal crackdown and interference with the implementation of Prop. 215.

You will meet and hear Anna T. Boyce, a retired RN who, along with Dennis Peron, co-authored and co-sponsored Prop. 215, reveal how distraught she has become over the horrors that are unfolding over the implementation of the initiative she so strongly believed in. How never in her worst nightmares could she have ever imagined that local police would invite the federal government to send police into California to arrest, prosecute, imprison and loot medical marijuana patients, providers and landlords.

Anna was the face of Prop. 215 and I believe was the single most important person in making the vote for Prop. 215 a landslide – what any elected official would call a mandate if they received as high a percentage of the vote. She will be the face of Prop. 215 again as she goes into the mammoth federal building to deliver a letter asking President Obama to end the violence and bring everyone together to see if their differences between state and federal law can be resolved peacefully.

Yes peacefully!!!!! Why the resort to violence. If there is a difference between state and federal law why can’t the feds and states just sit down and see if they can arrive at a mutual conclusion. Why the resort to violence now and talk never.

You can be a witness that could very well be a turning point in history – and you can take the bus to it.

BUS LEAVES THCF Medical Clinic at 10 a.m. for the rally.
There will be a continental breakfast available beginning at 9 a.m.

Along with Anna T. Boyce, there will be patients and activists making presentations. We expect the press to be out in force as this is going to be a momentous event. At the conclusion of the rally, we will march two blocks to the Occupy LA rally and join them for the Coalition of the 99% demanding that the people should control our government and not the behemoth international conglomerate corporations, billionaire Wall Street bankers and narco law enforcement.

I guarantee that your day spent with us in downtown LA will have you feeling empowered, fulfilled and so proud that you will tell your grandchildren about it.

If you are going to take the bus, send me an email back so you can be guaranteed a seat.

You can also come to the rally on Metrolink – now that’s really cool. Riding down on what passes for high speed commuter rail in the spacious comfort of the Metrolink cars. There could not be a more relaxing and eco-friendly way to get to downtown LA. You get dropped off at Union Station which is about three blocks from the Federal Building. If you want to spend some time in downtown and see the sights like the Disney Concert Hall or Chinatown, there are plenty of times to choose to return.

Whether you bus, Metrolink or drive, do whatever it is you have to do to get the time off and ATTEND. Be heard.

12:00 noon
Edward Royball Federal Building 255

This could very well be the most momentous rally in medical marijuana history. Make the commitment to be at the rally now – send me an email saying “Lanny – I am going be there with Anna.”

End of the pasting part!

The protests are more fun than unfulfilled expectations! I learned a long time ago. If you expect nothing from people-You Fail to Be Disappointed! Something I had to learn early in life to have any relationship with my parents, as an adult! And I do hope we are all adults here!
:twocents:
So have a good day. Watch us on T.V and laugh, but it is a party and you are invited! Don't take life too seriously, for it is a fleeting part of living! pr

Oh, an afterthought. I know we have some Wall Street People here and they always give a great perspective on the Financial Bail-outs, as in Threads when it happened. But, seems to me: 'The real crooks in America wear Suits!" So, they need to start dressing down, would be the solution. AS I understand pervious threads and why our Gov't did what it did. But, I don't have to agree, even if it has made this Second Greatest Depression play out slower over many years and to continue. . .don't mean to be mean or offend, as my understanding comes from my wallet.:stupid: pr

Not really true. Every government that has ever existed has socialism as a part of it, we're no different. Our military is socialism, our highways are socialism, our power structure is socialism. Socialism is no different than capitalism in that it has to be regulated to keep the citizens free of tyranny.
An important thing that people have to remember no matter what sort of government they have is that everyone on this planet was born with unalienable rights. Its not your government that grants hem to you. Government can only inhibit those rights not grant them. SO you have to be very careful about socialism and capitalism for this reason. This has all come about because we are supposed to have a representative form of government. We elect these people to represent us the voters. The problem is they don't represent voters they represent the special interests that got them elected and so our civil rights are slowly disappearing.
The revolution will hopefully scare the shit out of our elected leaders and they will go back to serving the people they are supposed to serve. I highly recommend, no matter what party you belong to, to vote for anyone but the incumbents. They are career crooks and not likely to change.

In my book the chicken or the egg corollary is flawed. It should read the chicken or the wolf...

The interstate highway system was built for US military infrastructure, supposedly. It wasn't a "general welfare" project that was built because we have a right to drive to grandma's house.
Funny you should mention the military being socialist. Having served a hitch in the US Air Force back when Carter was promoting Billy Beer and blanking on the hostage crisis, the enlisted I hung with know what is expected of them, why it's expected, and what the consequences are if you fail in your personal responsibilities. Especially if it affects the military, the civilians, or the constitution.
Tell me, what form of socialism sounds nice? Those that do the opressing will not give a rat's ass about your personal freedoms, and ultimately you will either comply with the state's demand of doing what you are told, (or what you are told not to do) or pay the consequences. And being as you personally will not likely be on the top rung of that elite ladder, you will do as you are told.

In a capitalist society, the consumer picks the winners and the losers. In a socialist society Obama picks just the losers. (Solyndra, for instance) Doesn't sound very inviting.
As it stands now, the unemployed are striking for more benefits than they deserve, the employed are demanding the richer folks pay more than their fair share even though the lowered capitol of the company might cost ther husband his job, and (former?) students want school loans written-off, and the unions want the "Jobs Bill" money to fix state union shortfalls after the gross mismanagement of said unions. Did I miss any of the partiers complaints...? In the Marxist/Facist/Socialist/Communist world, their physical survival could be in question.

So the Stalin brutality, the Hitler hate and control, the Mussolini facism sound like the road to American salvation? Seriously? You go down that road, you get those results to varying degrees. Those forms of government are nothing more than a house of cards waiting for the next madman or military coup.

A week or two ago I was having that issue, too. Would be fine for 20 to 30 minutes, then it would freeze-up losing everything I had already written. I was thinking it was my connection freezing-up, but that wasn't the case.

I even started using Notepad to copy-n-paste every couple of minutes, and was a real pain in the ass...but it worked. All is fine now, yet I wonder if it has anything to do with the virus warnings we were getting the last few weeks...? :wtf:

yeah after I lost my wall of text the first time I just started ctrl-a + ctrl-c and kept my typing on the clipboard... Annoying for sure but better than losing everything you typed out again. No idea about virus warnings though, my replies in this thread mark the only times I have been on the site for some time.. There are some other screwy glitches I was noticing also.. losing everything I had written being the worst of the bunch..

Capitalism can only work if its a free market capitalism. Something that has never existed and probably never will.
Capitalism is not a form of government or a way in for someone to run there life. Its only about money. No morality, no ethics no right or wrong, just money.
If capitalism was unregulated, which is pretty close to what we have now, the wealth slowly gets transferred to fewer and fewer people. Eventually you end up with one giant WalMart store running everything. That is not good for a free society. More important than free market capitalism is to live in a free society. Capitalism slowly erodes free societies. Its just the nature of what capitalism is.
Capitalism is just getting the raw materials for whatever product you're going to make as cheaply as possible.
Manufacture in a country that has the least amount of regulation and taxes
Pay as little as possible for labor costs and automate as much as possible to have even fewer labor costs
And to sell that product for as much as possible.
SO what you end up eventually with unregulated capitalism is big polluters, tax cheats, corruption of government agencies and eventually no workers.
So that begs the question. Once capitalism follows its natural laws where will people be able to find employment to live?

They want you to believe that if the system would work differently that you could not find a job. The truth is if the system would work differently they would be out of a job. Workers will always find work. But government mouchers (sponges) not so sure. If you dont work they cant live off your back, this is what scares them. And pushes them to spread propaganda. When they know the system has failed!
