It's like weed is just an herb, a plant with a stinky flower. It's not fucking payote now so chill out ppl, grow up. hit the freaking joint too, then u might feel better.
There are years and years of propaganda and bad pop-culture representations that make the majority in this country believe that cannabis will not only ruin your life, but is so offensive that they find it appropriate to knock down doors and prosecute people for it.

It's mass hysteria, it's a massive lie, but one that has been very convincing.

In the end, it's a matter of what people are used to thinking, and old habits die really hard.

Kind of like using your phone on the airplane, it's just something people have come to accept as wrong, but they don't really know why.
