Transplanted the younglings from the styrofoam cups into 8" plastic pots with a water retaining trays at the bottom today. These are the younglings after the transplant. I have the 400w MH about 30 inches from the top of the plants at this point to keep the temp down (my little 4" fan isn't quite getting the job done).

You should fill your pots more, after a couple watering and when plants have eaten part of the soil. There wont be much left! and for the mh question they still have the green feeding sacs their a bit young. But plants love mh lamps. so has long as it's not to close it should not be a problem (12"to 16 " is good). basicly you put your hand over the plants if the light is to hot for your hand it's to close to the plants.

if you respect the rule of to hot for you hand to hot for the plants, you could start the seeds under the mh. Sure it will cost you a bit more electricity but plants will be bushier.

For the soil I am using the same potting soil as I used in the styrofoam cups plus some peat moss for breathability (about 65% potting soil and 35% peat moss). Hopefully within 6 weeks I will be re-potting them to start the flowering phase with new soil and peat moss. Thanks for the tip on the MH light as well. Next new crop will be starting on the MH to try and increase bushiness

I had been looking for some of that, but had been unsuccessful finding it locally. Think I may have found one local retailer that carries it and will check it out when it's time to re-pot these for the flowering phase. Thanks!
