OK I hope I get this right. A "Conass" or "Coonass" are the only two spelling I know of. The French say "Conass". The Cajuns can say both "Conass or Coonass". Some Englishmen will most times say "Coonass" or the short "Coon" because down on the Bayou some folks still use the "N" word or "Coon" for any one that not English. Not nice but the Bayou is left to those that can live off the Bayou that life here live or die. If you look into Canadian history you will see that the Cajuns were in fact Acadian that's French Canadian for only one that did not know that. In part of the nearly 200 or so years of mistreatment of the Acadians by English we push on to the Bayou to live no land was to be given to any Acadian for many years. The English from that had said any man living on the Bayou would be called a "Conass" or "Coonass" the English know that this was an insult the "C" word in English (the four letter c word) was meant to offend and lower moral of the Acadian with no money, no land and no food. That feeling mistrust is still on the Bayou today. What I know first hand is a man I met he is no blood association to me but that he is Cajun wants me to call him "Conass" and he would really like if I would be call a "Conass". I saw what few Englishmen see. What did I see? His baby his pet alligator because he said she save his live the proof is he not in jail his words not mine and I was not there. But if I talk to much about what I know I can be lunch-meat his words not about him no no no. The rule one the Bayou is for the "Conass" Englishmen stay out again not my rule. So my friend we "Conass" have move be on the caveman days you treat Cajuns like men you will be treated better then that but don't you ever mistreat a "Conass" more so if your an Englishmen because of the mistrust already 200 year before you. But don't feel bad I am French and the Cajuns are not to happy with the French still today because of what Napoleon Bonaparte did he sold the Acadian / Cajun to the English for pocket change. Believe me I will not sell no Cajun to the Englishmen. Why ??? Because I will be sold one way or the other lunch-meat. Just so you feel better true "Conass" have three things we are not to do ever. One Touch No Witch at all for any reason be it black or white magic. Yes will still do black magic mostly on the Bayou. The witches use it rule most of this area at one time. Two Touch No Woman and Three Touch No Child never ever touch a child or lunch-meat even if your Cajun. I had heard of one man that did witness said he shot him self dead. He tell phone the police to say he did this crime then shot him self in the head in a bar full of witness and no gun was ever found. Why because he touch a child. Is this fair maybe but the Bayou rule is the one call the shots on the Bayou; if you not happy with Cajuns you can try and change them but some how I see that will take years but like said before I just a "Conass" and I been wrong before.
