First grow - Jack Herer
So I got some seeds a while back and decided to have a pop at growing my own this summer. Started off with 20 plants and nurtured them to a certain height, then planted some outdoors and kept a few indoors. Weather hasn't been great again this summer so all the outdoor ones have failed + of the four I kept indoors only one turned out to be a female.
So I'm basically left with only one plant, which is doing OK. A bit lanky but have it by the window and it gets a bit of sun if it's not cloudy and is budding up nicely, just I don't think I am going to get much off it.
So I wondered if anyone had some advice for me. I know that I can put some ferts in the pot to help it bud, but the downside to that is it can often give the buds a horrible taste. So my first question is should I add ferts to it, or just carry on trying to get it to bud up naturally and have a better quality smoke but less of it?
It seems to be budding up the fattest at the top so would it be an advantage to let it bud up some more, then crop the top off it and maybe help the lower buds get the nutrients they need?
Is there an optimum time to pick the buds, if I leave it too late will that impair the quality? Can I pick the buds off and leave it to bud up more? When I pick the buds can I still take cuttings and grow new plants? (that's a bit advanced for me really though at this stage)

Thanks. That's quite a lot of info to take in though, and quite technical. I don't think I have the experience yet to judge what would be the best thing to do. Might just see how it goes for now, have a dig around some of those links and see if they shed some light.

Unfortunately when trying to grow the only thing to do is read read read. You don't want to just try things without knowing what will happen because you risk stressing the plant further.

Jack Herer might have been a choice to grow when you had a few of them under your belt. Jack will flower at 14 hours of light. Gotta really watch your schedule (light) very close or just go with 18/6. Just a tricky strain. Takes along time to finish. I would only grow it indoors. Not very pest resisting strain. Hope you have luck with, though!
