1st grow box in closet.
Hi all. Just thought I would share some info on my first homemade cardboard grow box that's currently being used. Any questions, comments and advice would greatly be appreciated.
Ok now let me explain how its all set up.
I got my hands on a rectangle box that had wood on the outside ends that was staples to the cardboard. The box measures as followed. Height= 16 inches, Lenght is 43 inches and width. Measures 20 inches. Through the top of the box I have this light setup. 1st light is a 13w 2700k with 5inches spaced to the next Light which is a 13w 2700k with 6 inch space to the next light which is a 23w 6500k light with a 11 inch space to the next light which is a 23w 6500k light spaced 5 inches with a 13w 2700k light. I have a PC fan at the left end of the box on Tue bottom for air intake. And on top of the box I have a small PC Canon the right corner for exhaust. I also have a small fan in The box positioned like 3 inches from the intake fan basically to blow a soft bit of air towards plants to stimulate stem strenght. Oh and the lights are he cfl's
The box is totally painted inside with pure white (that's the color) paint.
Now I have a small plant that is 2 inches tall with. The first set of arrow leaves. Its directly under the first 23w 6500k bulb about 1 inch under it.
Then I have a 3 1/2 inch plant under the second 23w 6500k light about 2 inches in-between the bulb and top of The plant. The plant has about 4 sets of fan leaves. I also placed a small bowl of water in the box by the intake fan for humidity.
I'm using MG potting soil. I plan on using nutes in maybe 3weeks. Just haven't bought them yet. The 2 inch plant is in a Gatorade bottle with the top cut off with 1 inch of rocks on bottom for drainage. The bigger plant just has soil. The bigger plant is also in a good size circular pot. I water them both every other day till they drip thru the drainage holes. I have all the lights on 24 hours a day. May switch to 18 hrs in he next few.
So that's about itrapture81g Reviewed by rapture81g on . 1st grow box in closet. Hi all. Just thought I would share some info on my first homemade cardboard grow box that's currently being used. 1st grow box in closet.
The wifey brought me a present. Its MG all purpose plant food. Shows a tomato in the Pic so I'm assuming I can use it on my plant. I know MG isn't the best but its what I got onhand. Using this for nitrogen in veg stage. It shows. 24 percent nitrogen, 8 percent phosphate, 16 percent soluble potash, .2 borough,.7 copper, 15 percent iron,.05 manganese, .0005 molybdenum and,.06 zinc
What's the best way of first introduction of these bytes? Half strength? Quarter strength?

I did something similar when working with mine. I started at 1/4 strength and still ended up with a little nute burn, but the plants recovered OK.

Yeah I'm trying not to do that. If you used 1/4 strength then Imma have to come up with a smaller dosage than that. I understand nute burn is usually hard to not do when first growing. But its gonna happen at some point for noons. About how long does it take for a plant to recover from nute burn? Guess it depends on how severe. (Wow answered my own question) so if a plant gets nute burn is it best to flush it with straight water or let it work its own way through it?

Thanks for the info 3Rick. I just watered her with the nutes. It said to use 1/2 tblsp. So I actually used about a quarter of 1/2 tblsp.
Also I stuck the nutes in with tap water that sat out in open for 2 days mixed 1 part peroxide and 5 parts water. Lets see what happens. Pics coming this weekend.

Forget the above measurements of nutes i added. I just reread the inside of the scoop I used. It says 0.5 of a teaspoon. And I used about 1/4 of that. In 2-4 days I may water her with 1/2 of a teaspoon. Then from there increase to a full teaspoon. That's ofcourse after seeing how she responds to these different measurements of nutes. Hell may end up only using nutes 1 time a week maybe even once every 2 weeks just to observe how she responds to them.
