    1st grow...

I have a setup in a closet thats about 6' by 8'. I created a wall splitting the closet down the middle from the door to the back wall which has a flap I can open to water any hard to reach plants. The left side is dedicated to the veg/clones. It consists of a kitchen table with 6 48" florescent 6500ks suspended about 3'-4' above the canopy. Underneath i have smaller lights dedicated to the cloner which is a 5 gal bucket with a spray setup in it. I also have a 150 hps thats a little old (about a year and a half) on the plants up top as they approach the front of the table to prepare them for the heat of the 400 hps i have for the flower room which is the other half of the closet. On a shelf about a foot above the 400 is a carbon filter attached to a fan ducted to the outside. I am using soil at the moment with thoughts of hydro... How does this setup sound? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

I have a VERY simmilar grow set up. I was also thinking of the chicken wire for flowering, but, I read an article about scrog growing and you might want to go with a larger area between the wires for support.

    1st grow...

Little update: I ditched the 150 hps, it simply caused too much heat for me to deal with. I took 3 clones of my best looking plant which happens to be supersour og kush. I took the original clone about 2 weeks ago but it died so i had to make sure this time that i continue the strain. Most of my plants, aside from the ssog, are just some kb i smoked a while back... they seem to grow heartily! Thick stems and a deep green, almost purple looking, leaf. I have 3 strains of some reggi plants that someone gave me to practice with coming good soon. Their hairs are at the 40-50% red (these are the ones scroging). 2 of the kb plants are also in the flower stage and coming along nicely at about a month in. Also... lol... I wasnt using nutes until recently... The kb is the first strain being grown properly with proper lighting, ph, nutes, etc. Im using Fox Farm grow big 6-4-4 in veg and General Hydroponics KoolBloom 0-10-10 in flower (good or bad) and I give the nutes every other week or so. I really could use a few tips as it seems like my buds are on the small side!

On a side note: Im sitting here typing this with a blueberry gum seed sitting next to me. I was planning on trying the "soak the seed in ro water for 24hrs then place in damp (not dripping) paper towel until it pops" routine because I just had a horrible experience with jillybean's seedpod remaining clamped on the top of the seedling... she died before she was made a lady! Alas! But I dont want to fuck this one up! I hear great things about bbg. Tips appreciated!

Well! I tried the "soaking" method... worked better than described! lol My blueberry bum seed popped overnight while in the water so i only put it in the paper towel for a day so it could develope a lil bit. The root was already an inch long when i placed it in the soil (which at this point is home made via worm bin) and the next morning I had an inch tall bbg plant with its first set of true leaves already emerging from the seed leaves!
Aside from the latest news with bbg, I harvested one of the reggi plants and it tastes like butter! lol I feel like the harvest was extremely low: 30.1g when fresh off the plant. I assume it was more like a half oz when dried. I really want to get the kinks worked out before I flower ssog or bbg... PLEASE HELP!!! I need bigger buds!!! I just cant seem to figure out why the buds are so light and airy...

your plants have magnesium deficiency. get some epsom salts at the store and put one teaspoon in a gallon of water and give that the next time you water. they need the mg salt now but it's good to let soil dry out some before you water again. you might want to get rid of a flouro light or two and start back with that sodium when you flower them.

Well, a little more has changed around here... I got rid of the worm bin and switched to fox farm ocean forest. I also got some tiger bloom. Now that winter is rolling in my temps have dropped and my buds look 100% better... I will post pics as soon as the ssog is done.
