Just remember the plant can double, sometimes triple in size during flowering. Depending on strain and conditions. IMO if you are using 400hps or less i would keep them small so you will have good light penetration. I see alot of people on these sites start flowering around 12in and keep them small. Its pretty much all up to you and what your setup will allow.
I have up to 6 feet of height that I can use for growth and 80 square meters for growing area. I am using a 400 hps now (didn't have the cash to buy a MH for veg and then a HPS) and I also have a 105 watt fluorescent lamp which puts out an equivalent of 500 watts (the spiral type). That one I'm using for my clones and my young sativa.

These are pics of my ladies (hopefully). As to what strain, I haven't a clue, they were given to me as a gift and all I was told was that the buds that my friend smoked got her really high. Also, please note that I did build a grow room now. I have them in my attic and it's really difficult to access it with the nanny in the house. The first pic is part of my attic where I have the plants vegging (I've since added plastic sheets to block out external light, keep the smell confined, they really stink and they haven't even started flowering and turned it into a proper grow area) and I can move them if need be in order to start flowering, if they get really tall. The two bigger ones are indica dominant, so height shouldn't be much of a problem. But maybe I'll have a problem with the smaller one, as it's sativa. I'll cross that bridge when the time comes. I'll take more pics tonight when the nanny's out of the house and post them here.

Thanks for your help!
