Why don't growers organize?
Any dispensary should be operated by growers IMO so why aren't they?
Why can't growers network and establish true co-op's?
You can have the choice to join the co-op at different levels as either a grower or as a member. By being a member you should get your cannabis at a very fair price by offering your script to the co-op to grow for you. You get a guranteed delivery at harvest of X amout based on your script and buy in.
What would you consider to be a fair buy in to gurantee say 1.5 lbs? $1,000? Thats what about $48 an oz? All you have to do is wait for the harvest to cure and you're good till the next harvest.Purple Daddy Reviewed by Purple Daddy on . Why don't growers organize? I was thinking about this same thing the other day PD.... Now I'm thinking about getting together with a couple other local growers and start something new here in my area cause all these local spots are waaaaay too expensive IMO.... $10 grams is the least I've found and even then it's medium to low quality stuff....

your really not factoring in electricity costs, and the time you put into it. Time is money.

Im going to calculate the costs and assume that you use a 1000 watt light
2 X 10 gallon pots = 15 $
4 bags of qaulity potting soil = 50 $
1000 watt lightand bulb = 250$
3 part nutrients(advanced) = 60 $
bud candy = 20 $
Electricity costs(4 monthes) =100 $
your time(8 $ per hour, 1 hour a week) =128 $
(personally i like to value myself at 30 $ per hour)
if you really think about it, growing good pot costs a little more than you think. Me and my growers have about 3500 invested in a 2600 watt growroom where we harvest around 6-7 pounds every 3 monthes. If you also consider that we pay people 20$ an hour to trim (usually around 15 hours total) . i could pay them less but theyre a sollid trustworhty crew. Thats the reason why i charge 250 an ounce, because if i charge less i feel like im getting robbed.

Like I've said many times before, just because you choose to grow indoors and spend all that extra money on fancy equipment, nutrients and electricity doesn't justify me paying $50 an 8th and I won't just on principle. My brother grew 18 huge plants and I can absolutely gurantee you he doesn't have anywhere close to $1,000 invested in this grow and he got like 10 lbs finished after losing one plant and having to share 4 others.

If I have to pay that much I feel like I'm getting robbed. Plenty of GOOD bud out there for about half of that price.
Should I pay more for my bushell of corn because one farmer chose a different method which cost more then traditional farming? Yeah, it may be organic, it may be a little better blah, blah, blah, but at the end of the day you can't justify charging almost twice as much. IF this were a true free market and you put your $250 an oz bud on a shelf next to good but for $150 your bud would sit on the shelf until the $150 was gone.

Wow so you split $903 between 3 or more people to get 6 -7 pounds? Do you really feel ripped off if you don't get $250 an ounce? WOW, seems you are paying around $9.85 an ounce to grow....Just using your numbers....That is pretty good markup in any book!!!

when you consider i spend more than an hour each day just with maintinence, pruning, cleaning, changing resevoirs, adjusting flood schedules.......................... i have a hard time finding time to do it all.
Marijuana is the most expensive cash crop grown in the united states. Im sure as hell not going to give the shit away. The co ops around here buy their shit at like 180 an ounce and sell it for 300 an ounce.
(these are suppose to be "NON PROFIT", but i consider a 120$ markup quite a fucking profit) Compared to those drug dealers/hustlers, I consider myself a very honest business man.
