questions from a newbee
Hi all,
right then this is my first time growing and I'm not 100% sure on how things should go, I have been reading through these forums and have been trying to gain as much knowledge as possible.
I'm growing in England and "Billie" was born on the 14th may, she is a brand called easy kush a feminized seed sold as being "easy" to grow outdoors and being suitable for our glorious (or not ) English climate.
I did the kitchen roll airing cupboard thing to germinate the seed and then popped her into her first pot ( taking great care not to touch the seed ) and sat her on the window sill.
After the 3rd set of leaves I spotted roots poking through billies pot at the bottom so I re-potted it in to the pot you see in the pictures and she has been hardened off and placed in one of those cheap plastic greenhouse things, she gets direct sunlight from about 10 am until 4-5pm and the light cycle here is , light at 4am and sunset is about 10.30pm. (obviously the days are now getting shorter )
The soil medium she is in is basically a simple 70% miracle grow-30% perlite mix.
I'd be really grateful if you guys could tell me how things are looking, from the best of my understanding Billie is a bit stretched ( I assume due to the crap weather we have had over the last month or so mostly overcast rain and in the 60's most days with the odd 80+ sunny day thrown in).
in picture 1 Billie was about 4 weeks old and the other pictures are as date of posting (2 weeks later )Attachment 276735Attachment 276736Attachment 276737Attachment 276738, she is about 2ft tall.
now my questions are.
1) does it look like she's growing ok ? she was long and thin but in the last 2 weeks or so she has been "filling out" with growth coming from the original leaf sites all down the stalk.
2) would it be ok to try to get a couple of clones from her
3) should I let her go au natural (which I assume would be around mid aug ) or should I try to induce flowering a little earlier ?
4) if I managed to get a couple of clones would they yield anything worth while bearing in mind the very short veg cycle they would be in (maybe 4-6 weeks max )?
Thanks for taking time to read my post and constructive criticism is most welcomespluffy Reviewed by spluffy on . questions from a newbee Hi all, right then this is my first time growing and I'm not 100% sure on how things should go, I have been reading through these forums and have been trying to gain as much knowledge as possible. ok the best advice i think that will help you the most right now would be to just let the girls grow, dont worry about cloning or force flowering right now since this is your first grow you want to just get the hang of growing the plants out from seed all the way through harvest, trimming, drying and curing also topping and or fimming is easy enough that you can do it your first grow so good luck and keep it up bro.
oh i have an outdoor thread on here to so go check it out i have 2 female plants that are maybe a little bigger than yours that i just fimmed.

Thanks for getting back to me :-)
so the girls have been in the pots for about 5 weeks now, i see no sign that the roots are looking for more space as yet.
As for the nutes i have been gradually introducing some "baby bio" (http://www.bayergarden.co.uk/product...goryid=8)which is a kind of cover all nute from the uk which the girls seem to like , since starting with this they seem to have put on a growth spurt, i have some ionic soil bloom for when its time so fingers crossed everything is going along fine.
as for topping etc i'm a bit scared to be honest, i'm not 100% sure what i'm doing and as i'm not struggling for space i thought i'd just leave well alone.
once again thanks for your input, you kinda backed up my plan of just leave alone and watch and learn, the only reason i wanted to try a few clones was to mess about with them to see how different things worked (or didn't) with a plant i was kinda familiar with and it didn't really matter if i killed them

I would just let them finish by the season, they are fairly small for this time of year so you have about six weeks to get more veg. growth before the natural light cycle starts to change. Be careful feeding them too much miracle grow if you're using MG potting mix as it already has nutrients in the soil, I'd err on the side of caution and not fee them more then 50% of recommended dosages. If you're not challenged for space don't bother topping them, as long as they can't be seen I wouldn't bother and in those containers they aren't going to get that large. If you want to speed the growth up a little you may want to suppliment the light with a few grow lights in the morning and evening.
