Yes, you are correct with the exception of trimming.... You can trim during the first phase of flowering to further train your plant to grow how you want it to.... And fan leaves sometimes need to be trimmed as well....

One thing I like to do, can't really say it maximizes yield but it does produce less popcorn buds, is remove the lower bud sites from each apical branch. I usually leave like the top three or four sites.... This will ensure that all bud growth is concentrated at the remaining sites which have the best position for lighting and growth.... Co2 helps as well, especially if you have a sealed room....
