    Auto Timer bust - HELP!!!!

If it ain't one issue - it's another.

Been in flowering for just over a week - managed to get the temprature down (see Light vs Heat Thread) but now, just as I have to go away for a week for work, My timer seems to have fused/blown/broken/whatever.

Lights have been 12 on 12 off for 8 days - all perfect. Came in just now and noticed lights/fans still on. They should have switched off at 0830 this morning (and have been as I've been here to check them every day - course, I pulled last night and was a dirty stop out!!!). Annoying as my green girls are more important than a real one.

That means they've been on for 20.5 hours. This happened a few times during Veg, but that's not really an issue during veg. Now I'm in flowering, I'm concerned if I turn lights back on in 3 hours, they'll try and switch back to veg?? or at best, get real stressed/confused?? (In past grows, I have been religious as to TOTAL darkness for exactly 12 hours)

Sickening to think that all my efforts and costs could be ruined by a poxy £5 timer failing while I'm away. I'd gone through about 5 timers during veg. For flowering,I bought a relay for £30 (as I was told I was putting too much power through the standard timers) and since I put that in, it has worked perfectly till now!!!

What's best - set lights back on as normal at 2030-0830 (I have a spare timer) in which case, they'll have had a 4 hour dark spell (will one cocked up dark spell do that much damage?)

Or - Leave them off for 26.5 hours and then go back to 12 on 12 off?

Also the option of setting timer to come on in 12 hours - but that will mean I pay 3 times as much for the electric (cheap overnight KWH between 2200-0830).

Final option would be to start them off again at say 0500 tomorrow morning - 0400 Monday morning - 0300 Tuesday morning etc. etc. (Digital/programmable timer)

That way, they get 12 hours light/11 hours dark till I get them back to 2030?

I suppose the question would have to be: How bad is one cocked up dark period?

    Any ideas?

    Thx,

    Auto Timer bust - HELP!!!!

I would just let them stay on til your regular dark time. Ive had similar situations in the past with no bad results. One time wont hurt as long as its not a regular thing. IMO

    Auto Timer bust - HELP!!!!

    Thx Pushit.

Unfortunately, mine were other way round. They were OFF (I immediately turned them off when I saw they'd stuck on). If I'd have thought a mo, I would have left them on. But you figure in principle, one really short DARK wouldn't cause too much damage?

Decided in past hour, Unless there's a flood of "it's ok - one won't hurt" posts, I'm going to sit and program the timer to do 11.5 on/11.5 off starting at 0400 tomorrow morning. That way, I get back an hour each day and in 8 days - should be back to normal. Still got 8 weeks to go.

But in future, You figure the DARK is more important than the ON during flowering?

BTW - What's that you're growing there? - Is that an Indica strain? - I like the look of that for my next grow. As I normally grow sativa, mine get a lot taller than that.

    Cheers,

    Ouch

Cool. Those pics are from some bag seed that i grew. Regular old swag. Just to see if i could do it. Funny thing is everyone that i grew were all female. Didnt find one hermi in the bunch. They actually turned out decent considering what i was working with. Hope everything goes good with the timer issue.
