It must be understood that THC is not water soluble unlike other types of drugs. Therefore, drinking water days or weeks before a U/A is of no help. THC is stored in the fat cells and is not affected by drinking copius amounts of water. THC remains stored in the fat cells until the fat cells are burned for energy. When fat cells burn, the THC metabolites are released back into the bloodstream. From there, the kidneys filter the THC metabolites and deposits them into the bladder. This is the main reason why THC carries a longer detection period than other types of drugs.

Drinking water/fluids is only good on the day of the U/A. Thats because the water consumption temporarily dilutes the THCA concentration that is present in the bladder. It doesnt eliminate THCA but "thins out" the THCA concentration to where a urine sample registers below the cutoff thresholds of the drug screen (providing that the concentration is not too high). Again the dilution phenomena is only temporary - once all of the fluids ingested had all been urinated out, the bladder is replenished with fresh THCA-laden urine by the kidneys and thus, the donor would resume testing positive for THC.

Goldenseal is an old myth. It does nothing to rid the body of THC. There are many people who have taken goldenseal and passed a U/A. The thing is these people wrongly credit the goldenseal when the real hero was the copius amounts of water theyve drank with the goldenseal, which diluted the THCA concentration to where the urine sample registered a negative. These people wouldve passed anyway just on the water-loading alone and without the goldenseal to go with it.

All "detox" products work on the principle of dilution (that is, when they do work at all). That means they "work" because of the water that youre required by the instructions to drink with them. They do not rid the body of THC, as the sales pitches would like the consumer to believe. In short, they are a big scam to capitalize on the so-called "war on drugs" by preying upon the uninformed and credulous and taking their hard-earned cash. You can spend up to $200 on a magic elixir and accomplish nothing different than what can be accomplished using just water and vitamin B2.

Its not all uncommon for longtime daily users to test positive for 60 days or longer. Theres actually one report of a person that tested positive at 105 days of abstination. Of course, this person was a longtime heavy smoker that tipped the scales on the wrong side of 375 pounds and indulged in zero physical activity.

For P/M patients, the best thing to do is avoid cannabis entirely if faced with routine drug testing (until the program is completed).
