Advice
Good Afternoon,
I am seeking some advice on obtaining reccomendation for mmj from my doctor. I figure here would be the best place to come.
I've read all of the RIGL regarding mmj, most of the information on the department of health website, as well as that on RIPAC's. I'm well informed on the laws, and generally how to go about things - however I thought I'd seek experience and advice from others.
A little background. Currently, and for the past 4 (or longer) years I have been perscribed Topamax, an anticonvulsant that is one of the first treatments of epilepsy. (Two of my family members have severe epilepsy, therefore Topamax came and went through their regimene.) ...I started at 50mg of that, increased to 100mg and I've been at 150mg now for almost two years. However, I ceased seeing my neurologist after multiple tests (EEG's, an MRI, CAT scan, EMG, blood tests, etc) revealed some neurological abnormalities - however the doctor could never give me a definitive answer or solution as to why I would get sudden feelings malaise. After about 8 months it simply became me going to the neurologist every 2 weeks, him asking me how I was doing, I would pay my copay and leave. It wasn't worth it if he wasn't going to attempt to diagnose me any longer, and my physican agreed and started writing my Topamax perscription so I could stop seeing the neurologist.
Of course with that said it seems I have sufficent enough documented evidence to obtain a mmj card. However my doctor, whom is a good doctor and I do like, I have a feeling may not be inclined to sign the released. In lesser terms, I guess you could say he is "old fashioned".
I have no children, own a home and a small business. It's my personal feeling that my use of mj through the years has at least helped me, if not hindred some of the neurological abnorbalities I could suffer from. If my doctor does not agree, if there any other advice folks can offer?
Thank you. Look forward to speaking with everyone.

HGHFlyr,
Will do my friend. I apologize for not filling out my profile completely to begin with.
Ps, as I mentioned I will be seeking reccomendation from my pc physcian first and foremost... I go for my next physical in about 6 weeks. Out of curiousity, has anyone here been "lucky" and simply had their normal primary care who they've seen for years end up being educated and accepting about the mmj program?
Buddy.

Hghflyrjd is correct.
Your best bet is educating you PC physician.
I do know people with qualifying conditions who have been approved through 11th State Consultations but it costs $

Good afternoon gentlemen,
Thank you all for the advice, I appreciate it a lot.
I guess I will have to be prepared to educated my phycian if thats the road I travel. While I definently do have a very large documented history of 'seizures, including but not limited to those characteristic of epilepsy' - I'm sure you could classify whatever condition I may may have as debilitating pain as well. (As physically when you have neurological issues, your muscles and joints are so weak you cannot do a lot.)
Any other adivce is most appreciated.
Hghflyr, I appreciate your email very much.
Thanks.
Buddy

I'm not sure if I have some issues as well as I connect through a secure virtual private network which ends up listing my internet info as being in Canada. I'm still new to being out in the open on the topic, so some sort of privacy is a little reassuring. As I side note, anyone curious in connecting in a similar way (through a VPN) I'd be happy to show you how.
Thanks,
Buddy

So between... (scrolls up), June 11, when I first signed up for this website and about the begining of July I went and gathered all of the records I could. All I really needed was my perscription history from my pharmacy which shows the anti-convulsant's, etc I unfortunately have to take and the duration I've been on them. Also I got my PCP's records, but, I told a small white lie to them and mentioned I was going to try to find another neurologist to and hopefully get a better diagnosis than years prior. Kindly, they spited their 3rd party information policy and shared all of my old neurologists detailed log's, etc. To be honest, the stuff in the SHOCKED me, let alone being sufficient for the reason I requested it in the first place.
All in all my experieces were great. It felt nice for someone to understand my condition, and more importantly WHY I do what I do.
Thank you hgh.
