Just as I said in the previous thread on marijuana medical research: it's a good thing that pharmaceutical companies are finally starting to develop marijuana-based medicines. The more of these therapies that make it to market, the more ridiculous the government's case for keeping marijuana on Schedule I will become. I certainly support this thawing of 1970s-era restrictions on MMJ research and will be interested to see what kinds of treatments come of it.

Also, as a general matter, I think our federally-administered drug research and approval process is too restrictive, meaning Americans don't have access to the newest drugs and treatments. This is a tiny step, but in the right direction.
