Questions from new MMJ Patient

I am a new MMJ patient and am wondering how one goes about finding a caregiver. I know there are tons of dispensarys in Colorado Springs but am wondering about my other options. I neither have the room or money to grow my own, so that option is out for now. I really don't know where to begin with this process at all. Any advise would be appreciated.

First of all, you don't have to name someone or a medical marijuana center as your primary provider in order to be able to purchase meds. A private caregiver will most likely want you to sign them over as your provider as this is how they can legally grow for you.

A medical marijuana center however, such as ourselves, will provide medicine, usually at a slightly higher price even to those who haven't named us as their primary provider.

The best question you can ask is what you are looking for from a provider.

In addition to providing medicine to our members (those who have signed us over) at a lower price than non-members, we offer wellness services, massage and acupuncture, at an affordable rate, and we host community services events, social outings and more. We have many patients who come to us for more than just medicine who appreciate the community that we provide and the support structure.

That's not to say that a private caregiver wont give you support, but they likely don't have the resources to do anything on the scale that we do here.

I recommend that you don't rush into signing your provider over, and wait until you find someone, or some medical marijuana center, that you can trust to provide you with high quality medicine consistently, and someone you can trust to run their business above the board.

Keep in mind that, unless HB-1043 is vetoed by Hickenlooper which looks unlikely, private caregivers will have to register with the state if they wish to continue to serve patients, and working with those committed to remaining legal will be a prudent decision on your part.

Is it hard though? I can't seem to keep a regular plant alive so it seriously worries me to think about keeping something so important alive and doing it right. Is there a good place to look that will explain small space and as inexpensive as possible growing?
I really don't know anything about any of this I feel like a total fool. I smoked some in high school and than haven't touched it in twenty years, I also don't know anyone here in Colorado Springs that does so it's been hard to get any information. Unfortunately looking on the net is sometimes hazardous because of very incorrect information.

It's not as tough as you may imagine. There is a ton of good info on this site as well as others. I'd suggest reading up on dirt growing, buy some seeds and have at it. Remember always PH!! This is the most common problem grower run into I think. As well as never having to buy medicine again you will learn a lot and will know exactly what is in your medicine. The very act of nurturing a plant is therapeutic. Don't be scared. Go for it! You can always pop into a good dispensary for a sampling of other medicines as well. Good Luck! You will do fine.

you can do it. hand watering coco is another easy, uncomplicated way to jump in. what do you have to lose? you have a lifetime of self supplied, safe meds to gain!
