super cropping and topping, lets make a bush

feel free to chip in info on any of these, qestions comments always appreiated... i just havent seen many people supercropping so i thoughtd id give it a try.

just thought id share my expierence with some super crop and topping.... so far, Ive been growing with t'5s and since the light that pentrates the canopy is hugley decreased im trying to figure ways to work with my floor space and not height, trying to creat an even canopy of nice buds.

There are a few pictures here of some plants i have been topping and fimming for about the past month + now.

All light by various cfl's and my 2ft 4 bulb t'5 hopefully this will be my outdoor this year. just waiting for the sun to shine.

first set of pics is the ppb that im currently working on

this has been super cropped about a month ago, topped 3 times now creating a short and stalky bushhh

the 2nd is a random bagseed strain, guessing lots of sativa in it, topped first, than super cropped, its starting to bush out and pop lots of new nodes upwards

I'm pleased you started this as its something I started playing around with a couple of weeks back. Your girls seems to have coped very well with it all, its going to be interesting to see them in bloom.
For my one I had a slow clone that was behind everyone else so I thought I'd guinea pig her and practise. She started out LSTing and responded so well that I thought I'd try out a few other things. So I topped some tops and then one that was taller than the others got supercropped back into line. The next day the supercropped top was again looking back up to the light and after a few days the stem had healed up and a bump was forming at the site. That stem has grown thicker and stronger than the other ones I just topped and left. So much for my LSTing low stress training, its been more high stress for her, but its been a very interesting exercise. She now just gone into 12/12 yesterday after 5 weeks of me terrorising her and she's a lovely bushy, toppy plant and I can't wait to see how she goes.
Are you going to do a growlog with these? I'd love to see how you find these girls compared to earlier ones. Supercropping doesn't seem to be so common on our board so it'd be something different.

Ive just tried crushing the stems on a unruley white widow. I even did it in flower, I am a beleiver 4 ft. plant to start plant full as can be and only 2 1/2 ft did not hurt it at all.

super cropping and topping, lets make a bush

I just did some more supercropping on my latest young ones and noticed one little detail.
A couple of hours after lights ON I pinched down the tops of 2 plants I had previously topped and had grown a little tall. It took these 2 most of the whole lights on period (they're on 18/6) for their little heads to start looking up again.
Where as last night half an hour before lights OUT I pinched down the tops of 2 other plants and as the lights came on in the morning their little heads were looking up already.
They recovered much quicker when supercropped before lights out - rather than trying to manage all day. Anyone else noticed this?
I expect this is likely common knowledge but was interesting for me, and I'm thinking next time I'll do it prior to lights out.

I never top my plants, I only use Low stress Training. I take each big branch and bend it down and force all of the laterall growth to now to upward. I would never go back.

These bitches can take a beating too. As long as you do all of your bending and supercropping before flower, your plants should have enough time to recover from the stress and still give a nice yield.

Yep, bend and train here. I'll top an unruly stretcher, but mostly the the LST does the trick. Flower on a screen and trim the undergrowth on week 2 or thereabouts.

anymore i dont top at all unless i desperately need a clone( indicas:thumbsup. but lets not lose sight of that root zone either. just because you dont have 4 feet of plant in height doesnt mean you dont have 4 feet of plant. screens are awesome but only a growers patience will bring the best out. screens are also somewhat speculative especially with a new strain. so my thought is with longer veg periods and factoring in stretch you should do better with a larger root base. lst is similiar to a screen and very effective and wont take as long as a screen. it can even be used in sog format. also you wont need as much root space. a well set up screen is a thing of beauty, though and will enhance yields.
