Moving to Colorado. Best way to quickly prove residency?
Hello, I'm moving to Colorado in a month and I'm looking to use medical marijuana to treat my extensively (10+ years) documented migraines. I've found a place to live, and I'm looking ahead to see how soon I can apply.
What I've found online says that I can use a utility bill from my CO place of residence (with my name on it) in lieu of a driver's license, so what I'm wondering is this - what bills are acceptable? Could I just use a statement of rent paid from my apartment complex?
Alternatively, how long would it take for a bill from a paid utility (cable, internet, energy), and could I initiate it before I move to make sure a bill is there once I arrive?
These are pretty random questions that I don't expect anyone could provide an answer to, but thanks for reading!silasfarmer Reviewed by silasfarmer on . Moving to Colorado. The best way would to get a colorado ID right away.I know some parts of our local governments are moving away from the utility bills as a form of proof.

you're a colorado resident the first time you get a paycheck.
you can use that to get your driver's license, but you can get a MMJ with an out of state ID as long as you can prove residency (see top sentence...)

another random question but what the hell  does anyone know if you can still gain residency in Colorado without working there. like retired folks, or people like me that work remotely logged in to their work and could really live and work remotely from anywhere. :detective1:

I would move there now if I knew I would qualify. I had my card in Cali for cronic pain management from a motorcycle accident but I don't that would qualify if Colorado. Be nice to know before making the move. I'm not sure if doctors can really do that but just a thought.

here is the actual rules. it looks like someone from out of state can see a doctor but you cannot apply for a state card until you have established residency with a dl, id card, paycheck or util bill.

Don't mind the peanut gallery. Colorado is a great place to live for all kinds of reasons, including our progressive pot laws and relatively high amounts of economic and personal freedom.
