Anyone using a 400w or 600w hps in ireland?

hey im new to indoor growing, iv done a few guerrilla grows but iv never used lights. im looking at a 400w or 600w hps but im getting a bit shocked with what it could look like on my esb bill. for 400w at 18 hours a day its lookin like 30e/month or 60e/2months. for a 600w its lookin like 40e/month or 80e/2months. also i dont have much height in my grow room, maybe 4ft. worried bout how far away the bulbs have to be so as not to burn, obviously will just be growing, small/autoflower/indica strains.

can anyone who is doing something similar to this confirm or deny it?

have also been reading about LED's and im getting very mixed results. it seems like they ruin flowering and for vegative growth they seem to only be recommended as a backup or extra light along with HID's.

Just wondering if anyone has had a personnal experience with these and could shed some light ( ) on this for me?

man,my last grow cost me 300e in 2,5 months.never using 400w in my house again.it was first bad mistake what i ever made as a personal grower.yeah 400w bulb+plus ballast+plus ventilators x3 40w each+i had the small youk behind the timer what was spinning my plants 180* in every 2 hours(24w)..and thats just the basicc.never mind if you go hydro...thats whgy i stick now with CFL-s and go LST..


and if ya wanna use HID or SOD in a growbox 4f in hights then good luck..try da keep temp right and try not da burn your plants...
i think tht in your case CFL is the best.;..
or decent 90w UFO surrounded with 20-23w CFL 2700k and 5600k. that would work out as...
LED 90w
6x20w CFL 120w
3x ventilation 30w max(small room) thats what i would do-but it all depends how much ya wanna or can spend..

so anyways keep us updated how your geting on and all that..

thanks man, thats definately gonna help. the budget is a bit low so i think im gonna try with just the LED's first, i mite try get cash together for CFL's and ventilators down the line. its good to know for sure the price of running those hps lamps. il probably give it a go with some small auto-flowers but itl be a while, iv an outdoor setup to look after, might be a while even scroungin the cash for LED's but im fairly dead set on givin it a go now. when i get it up and running il post some progress, hopefully all goes well.
