There isn't nearly enough light on those plants. They should be 10 times that size after 3 weeks.

I agree. Your plants are growing at glacier speed.....
Your cfl's need to be within 5" to get any usable lumens. The label on cfl boxes say "2200 lumens", what it doesn't say is that those 2200 lumens are only available at 1" away from the bulb.... Light meters......they work.....

my first grow... need a little help
whats the avg temp in that closet with the lights on up to 24 hrs?
i would recomend a the trouble shoot form so we know what you are working with then some one might be able to help..that foil is only going to reflect heat. so it it gets below 70F then id loose the foil. Mylar (emergency blankets from spoorting good stores)works better. CFLs are not strong enough to be reflected that much. like cangrowit sait up there, there is about a 5 inch rance for good useable light from a CFL. Good thing they are cheap!!

They don't look like they've grown at all to me. Do you have window you can put them in? They would do better IMO. Be careful when you put them outside, I have had real problems with shock going from indoor to outdoor and lost my two largest plants last year. I'd only put them outside in the shade for a few days then a few hours of sun a day for a few days. Mine literally folded over and never recovered.

If you are going to eventually put them outdoors, don't spend money on equipment for indoors. Save your money and do what purpledaddy suggested. Introduce them to natural light gradually. Start them off in a shaded area, then once larger give gradual direct sunlight.

it's hard to do that where I live but I mean if I just buy a cfl with more wattage would that be ok and make them grow until I put them outside
