I would dig a 1' wide x 1' deep trench all the way around the poly tunnel. Then dig another trench and connect it to divert rain water away from your plants. This would really help if you have rain pouring for a whole week. Definitely don't want your roots to stay moist for too long.... If you can plant on a natural slope of land, even better....
