33 days into flowering, strange spots. nute burn or possible deficiency? Pic's.

    Hey folks,

I just noticed these spots today on BOTH plants. They are mostly on the top fan leaves. I had problems earlier in this grow, corrected it and for the last 5 weeks things have been going good until now. Here is some more info and pics.

What is your experience level? (first timer, novice, experienced...) Novice. Been at it for a few years.

    Your Equipment:
.1) Type and wattage of lights. 90 watt LED + 2 x 42 watt cfl
.2) Distance from tops? A few inches
.3) Reflector type? (cool tube set-up, bat wing, enclosed reflector, bare bulb...) CFL in clamp lights, LED is UFO style
.4) Is there a consistent fresh air supply? When lights are on, yes
.5) Do you have an exhaust fan and a circulation fan? Circulation fan yes, exhaust fan no.
.6) What are the bulb wattages, kelvin ratings, and schedule? 12/12. cfl bulbs 2400k. LED is 90 watts.

    Your medium:
.7) Specific brand and type of soil, (coco, peat based soilless...) and anything you've added to it. (vermiculite, perlite, worm castings...) Coast of maine potting soil. Bar Harbor Blend is made with lobster and aspen bark compost, long staple horticultural grade sphagnum peat moss and perlite.
.8) Size of container. Transplanted into 5 gallon bucket 5 weeks ago
.9) Did you use peat pucks (or similar) to root clones or germinate seedlings? No

    Your nutrients and water:
    10) Source of water? (tap, bottled or filtered) What's it's ph before adjusting? tap. neutral. Good water supply in this town. PH pen shit the bucket.
    11) Method of checking water ph. (ph pen, test strips, aquarium test kit...) Soil tested kid.
    12) Method of adjusting water ph. (phosphoric acid, white vinegar, hydrated lime, PH Up...) Nothing yet. Might add lime if this is indeed a deficiency.
    13) Specific brand and N-P-K ratio for each bottle. List dosages (quantity per gallon) and current feeding schedule. Tiger Bloom 2-8-4. I have only worked my way up to half a teaspoon per gallon. I feed every other week.
    14) How often are you watering between feedings, and how much per watering? Once. Usually one gallon to one and a quarter gallons.
    15) Any additives or tea's? (Superthrive, CalMag, molasses, Mother's Earth...) Added molasses today before I noticed the problems.
    16) Are your ph levels stable, or do they fluctuate? They have been stable.
    17) What is your ingoing water's ph? ...your runoff ph? Neutral. Run off was in 6's last time i checked before pen broke.
    18) Do you foliar feed? If so, with what, how often, and at what time do you spray? no.

    Your growroom:
    19) Indoors or outdoors? Indoors.
    20) What size of closet, room or hut? Closet is 7ft long, 2 1/2ft wide, 8ft high then I have the 2 plants enclosed to stop light leaks.
    21) What are the temps and humidity levels while lights are on? ...With lights off? 78 degrees, 37% humidity. Not sure when off.
    22) Have you seen signs of insects in the growroom? no
    23) What strain are you growing? (Indica dominate or Sativa dom?) Northern Light and White Domina
    24) From seeds or clones? Seed
    25) Is this an autoflower strain? no
p.s some of the pics might not look that bad but the spots seem much worse in person.

Kinda looks like it's nute burn. But if you are only using 1/2 a teaspoon per gallon every other week, not sure. Maybe your soil is a strong mix.

Do you have drain holes at the bottom of your 5gal buckets?

Have you flushed them in these pots?

How do you judge your moisture level in your soil before your next watering??

Yes, I have 3 large drain holes. I have not flushed them in these buckets although I have been getting plenty of run off so I am pretty sure nothing is built up in there. I used a soil test kit today and the ph was neutral. It is a color coded test so it is not exact but pretty damn close. And as for the moisture levels, I go with the lift the bucket method. The northern light completely drys out within 7 days and the white domina more like 10-12 days. Oh and I also noticed some of the top fan leaves have twisted.

I'd say flush them, flush them good, then see what happens. 1gal of water per week, even with good runoff, can allow salts to buildup, especially if you have a strong soil mix. I don't know anything about your soil but if you are only using 1/2 teaspoon of Tiger Bloom every other week, would I be safe to assume you yourself believe you have a strong mix??

Flush them and let them almost dry out. Should show reaction within a few days....

    My 2 cents....

Ok I will give them a flush tomorrow and see what happens. How many gallons of water should I use? This is the first time I have used such large buckets. And as for the soil, it is 100% organic. I am not sure if it is a strong mix, I have used it before with good results. They have a whole line of soils. here is the link....

The compost in your soil is what your plants are feeding off of. Just be aware that by flushing you are not only flushing out salts but nutes and micro nutes as well. I'm not saying all will be gone but just keep that in mind. If your new growth starts to look lime green, they are asking for nutes.....

You want to use two to three times the amount of water you container is made to hold. In your case, you need to use 10-15 gallons per 5gal container in order to properly flush.....

Your pictures look like you have a cal/mag deficiency.
If you just added the molasses then wait awhile and see if she improves.
    Molasses contains cal/mag.

    That's just my :twocents:. :hippy:

Take this advice first before flushing......cause if you flush and it is a cal mag def, it will only get worse......

Thanks, much appreciated. I did decide to wait to flush and will keep an eye on them for the next week. Keeping my fingers crossed!
