opinions wanted on reflector heat shields

Anyone have any experiences with using reflector heat shields? Looking at purchasing some hydro-innovations heat shields. Ads look good - 102 degree external temp versus 69 degrees with shield in place- wanting to do all I can for heat control

I used a heat shield for my mag xxl reflector. I used mine for two grows sold it then bought a 12" inline fan. It kept my tent about 3-6 degrees cooler. Which is good but I was looking for 10 degree drop minimum. Evacuation from the bulb has def helped me out the most.

I think if I had everything else sorted out, this would be my last buy.

Make your own very easy. Go to a 99 cent store or 1.99 store and buy the cheap windshield reflectors, the shiny ones. I have two layers of it on my hood and it works great. You cut it to the size you need, and can easily shape it. Use the aluminum tape to tape it to hood. In my room I have a thermometer on my hood that reads 72. My room stays at 72 as long as the outside air temp is below 84. My intake is from a cool place. I am also running a 1000 watt hps and a 1000 watt mh for 6 hours every day cycle.

But the cheap windshield reflectors work great because you can layer on many for only a few bucks and they really do work. If cut properly it can look very professional.

The following pics are from a legal medical grow, making sure to follow all laws and regulations.

Temps were about the 5-9 deg higher and to make that up I turned the blowers up 20% from 60% on the motor control to about 80%.

On a hot day the room would hit 90 before the shield, now never.
