    WATER QUESTIONS?

Hello, there is a theory that you should let tap water sit out for 24-48 hrs before using it, my question is if you let it sit out covered or sealed (I.E. old plastic milk containers with the cap on) is it doing any good, or does it need to sit uncovered? newbie thanks!

You're trying to get evaporation, so open air containers are best. Good luck!

    WATER QUESTIONS?

we let our water stay uncovered as it helps the clorene evaporate from the water which helps your PH in the long run. we also use a air stone in water tank to help the clorene disapate.

    WATER QUESTIONS?

You are trying to get chlorine to evaporate so it won't kill your beneficial bacteria etc in your medium. However most cities have choloromines in there water which will not evaporate out. Only a decent filter will pull them out.

    Half right mate.
But, a filter will not remove Chloramine.
And activated charcoal will remove odors, but also has no effect on Chloramine.

You can break Chloramine down with Ascorbic acid, or use Aquarium supplies, but unless you have fish in you res., it's really not necessary.
