    Lighting / Electrical ?

Don't you just hate it when your morning starts off with a problem, especially a grow problem......

Ok, so I go to check my flower cab this morning and my 1k lamp was off!!! Oh sh*t!, I went to the surge protector, it's off. Went over to the GFI it's plugged into, pushed buttons, nothing. Walked outside to the breaker, it was in the tripped position. So I slapped it over to off, then back to on. It stayed there. I walked back to the GFI, plugged in the two cords I had plugged in. Set the timer and it worked fine for the remaining 45 min of the usual light cycle.......

A water softener is the only other electrical appliance on the same line as the 1k. But the house FAU is on the same breaker. Last night the FAU stayed on for a longer period than usual. Does anyone think that the FAU, which is on a different line but same breaker, could cause the other to fail, no, right? What are life spans of circuit breakers? The place I'm is 25 years old, wiring probably is too. I think it was TankJr that said, "if one trips three times, it's time for a new one"......

If it was the ballast, shouldn't the surge protector or the GFI have tripped before the breaker???

Or could it have been that both the FAU and the 1k on the same breaker caused the breaker to get hot enough to cause the one drawing more power to fail???

I guess this is just one of those - gonna have to wait and see what happens - type of situations.

Windows will stay closed tonight and FAU off.... No reason for it to trip, unless the breaker needs replacen....

    Peace....

It was what I thought, the FAU and the 1k on the same breaker running at the same time that caused the breaker to trip. 1k worked as usual last night so not worried about it anymore......

    Happy Growing!!!
