Need help diagnosing issue...
Hello all, this is my first post here. I'm a first time grower and was originally supposed to receive some coaching from some experienced growers, but they have since flaked on me and I've been forced to go it alone. I've been reading, watching videos and trying to gather as much info as possible, but it seems you ask 10 people the same question, you get 10 different answers. Maybe I'm just being paranoid and over analyzing things, but better to be safe than sorry. Right?
BACKGROUND:
Received "Black Russian" and "Cali Hash Plant" clones 3 weeks ago from long time hydro grower. Advised to only give them water for first 3-4 weeks, otherwise would "burn" them if given nutes. Went 24/24 for 15 days (waited until they were 12"), went a full 24hrs off and started 12/12 about 4-5 days ago. Lower leaves have started yellowing (on both strains) and becoming spotty on most of the plants, although the rest of the plant looks very healthy. Some of the edges of other leaves have begun turning yellow as well. From my research it would appear to be a magnesium deficiency, but maybe not?
Thanks for your time.

Have you seen the Flora weekly feeding chart? Tiz a "good place to start". You have likely OD'd them a tad by giving all three at 1/2 strength. That and the additives are likely stressing your ladies a bit.
Check the feeding schedule here: Flora Nutrient Weekly Feeding Program - Greentrees Hydroponics
To convert the ounces to teaspoons, check here: Ounce to Teaspoon Conversion - Convert Ounce to Teaspoon - Volume Metric Conversion (.15 oz equals approx 1 teaspoon)
You might also want to raise your ingoing water ph to between 6.3 and 6.8ish. Wander outside that ph range, and you'll start locking-out various nutrients.
Rinse the Neem off after every treatment. It can clog the stoma's.

Just gave nutes for the first time a few hours ago. Been straight water up until now. I used the Flora chart and only gave 50% just to be on safe side.
Other grow guidelines have water ph at 5.8-6.2?

Other guides are wrong. In soil, the beginnings of lockout actually can start at 6.5 or lower, but the lockout increases as the ph drops. Check the calcium, phosphorus and magnesium uptake range(s) listed below...

Thanks for the info & chart. So do you think it's a nute deficiency as well as to why the leaves are turning yellow and have brown spotting? Should I just remove the completely yellow ones? They're dying anyways.

They look more overfed than underfed, but it also looks like some calcium and possibly a mag deficiency. Possibly from lockout, but once you get ph on track the new growth should be fine. Old leaves are old news and won't "heal".
I let nature takes it's course, and pick the leaves out of the pots when noticed.

Not sure overfed is really possible, these things were almost dry as a bone and droopy yesterday. Ph could have been an issue, as well as deficiency. Thanks again for your assistance!

When you say "dry as a bone" are you referring to the soil? If so, I think that might be the problem. You say you gave a fert dose at 50% strength but what you've forgotten is that if the soil is dry this might actually equal a fert dose where the soil is wet and the strength given is 100% or more. One of the problems with alot of liquid ferts out today is the companies don't tell you alot of info - exactly how to feed in certain conditions. They just say so many mls or teaspoons per liter or gallon of water, but this really isn't enough info. It looks like overfert because the healthy leaves are too dark green. Are you seeing yellowing on the lighter green leaves? If not, if what you're seeing is leaves going dark green and then yellowing with brown spotting, then you have overfert. Companies are making alot on ferts that people don't use properly. I think I'm in the wrong business.....
