My entire growing experience (dating back to the 70's) to this point is outdoors. I do not live in your area, in fact, way further south. But, I think I can offer one word of advice based on my outdoor experience and (mostly) what I've learned on this site.

Most Sativa strains will not be able to finish out before the weather forces a premature harvest. Trichrome development can be virtually non-existent even though you will be able to see what appears to the inexperienced as nice buds. The potency can be very disappointing even with potent strains. I have grown Thai that I got the seed directly from stick I bought in Thailand. So, definitely the real stuff. It was potent but not nearly what it should have been, I had similar experience with Colombian Gold.

At the time we didn't know much about stains. In the mid, to late seventies, I came across an indica strain, quite by accident. This was the first strain I found that would finish completely before the first freeze. So, I took the few seeds that developed before I culled the males and that is all I grew with for years.

To summarize: If you're going to grow outside, and you're not in a tropical climate, You will need a fast finishing strain such as AK47 or any number of hybrids that have been developed for this purpose.

Not much, but I hope this helps. Good luck on your grow!

My brother is in southern Oregon at 4500 ft. elevation and the biggest problem is frost, he has to run a propane heater in his greenhouse every night into July.
