a couple of questions on hydro/scrog
:smokin: Thanks for stopping by. I was hoping to bounce a few questions off you expereinced scrog guys. First off would it even be benificial to have four scrogs stacked by twos in a corner? Would that produce more dry weight then a few natural grown girls? Talking prices for materials, maintance, and electricity campared to how much bud I can get in the area. I have a good sized kitchenett That would be a perfect personal garden. I would like to use the corners for two dififerent grow cycles and leave room in the center for a work space. Now four of them stacked in each corner for a total of 20square feet out of each corner lit by t5 h/o's would be option one. Option two being 10 sqft for vegging and ten for fruiting. Now would the price of running option one be worth the extra work for the smaller buds. This would only be my second grow and first hydro/dwc, and first scrog so I know I can't be effecient at either option.

I submit however, it is the same bud that you would have gotten if done in the vertical plane, it is just presented to you a bit differently as separated buds instead of one large cola. Then because of the advantages of the even canopy already discussed above along with the increased side growth and production from the lower limbs in a SCRog because of the horizontal training, I believe that the SCRog if done correctly should almost always outperform a standard vertical grow given the same light.

a couple of questions on hydro/scrog
thank you emily, that is another thing that accually drew me into the scrog method! These buds that grew into smaller parts quicker and easier to dry out. That really appeals to the patiencent inner child in me. But I did plan on topping my plants for a few reasons one of them being for the smaller nugs. I also thought it would be easier to work with considering I am using seeds. I figured it would combat the wasted vertical growth and then i can just lst them down like tikki did. Now I'm thinking about it, would the scrog making the buds smaller and me topping them making them smaller, do you guys think it would start cutting into dry weight? Also how bad is the extra work with this scrog, does it pay off? It seems to me it is easier to trim at the end of the harvest.
thank you too Keyline, thats a great point. If I went with the hid system I wouldn't seperate the plots besides ten sq. for veg. and one for fruiting. But I wasn't thinking about all that wasted light either. But still i could only utilize ten each when I could stack two scrogs in the same ten sq. ft. Since this better light will penetrate further would the under growth make up for the extra usable area. I'm just looking for my best bang for my buck.

a couple of questions on hydro/scrog
To help figure out your best set-up, first you need to ask yourself how long are you willing to veg, and do you want a perpetual grow.

a couple of questions on hydro/scrog
I was hoping for like three weeks of veggin but it seems im goin to need a lot longer. as far as perpetural I have autoflowers for sog and two pure afghans and two pure white widows. I am hoping that the different flowering periods will keep me picking pretty regularly. between the four harvest i just had the wife was smoking it up before i could get a propper drying.:stoned:

a couple of questions on hydro/scrog
From the sounds of your setup I'm guessing your not concerned with plant count. With that in mind I would recommend sticking with a SOG grow from clones.

a couple of questions on hydro/scrog
Well as state laws dictates one plant is the same punishment as ten plants. Whats worse is that one plant of any size in any stage is considered one pound of pot. Atleast thats how I understand it. So my intention is to get as much as I can out of each of my four revegging scrogs. Two mothers that will be getting reveged every now and again, but mostly saved incase reveging the main four starts dropping yeilds. Then I will use the four autos to fill in the gaps of harvesting time. So I guess what Im asking is will the scrog be better for this or should I stick to a hps and harvest all ten at once?
