Hey Everybody
I have an issue here and was wondering if some people here might be able to offer some advice. I have been approved for HUD housing (disabled) in Oregon and am planning to move there. However, I found out within the last couple of days that HD does not allow medical cannabis grows or usage within any unit they subsidize. This presents me with a huge problem. I have all of my own equipment and close to 30 medical strains that I own. I could not wait around any longer for the idiots in my home state to keep jerking around and decided to apply to a state that has medical cannabis. I have no intention of paying someone to grow meds that I can easily (and perhaps to a better degree) grow for myself. Has anyone here run into a situation that is similar to this? I so, how did you work your way through the maze that I seem to be faced with now? Thanks to any and all that can give me some advice. Peace.

Hey Everybody
Oregon Housing and Community Services HUD/Section 8 Contract Administration
I'm sure you're as good at researching as you are growing ;-) All signs point to NO, you may not cultivate or otherwise have Cannabis on HUD property. It's a federal program, administered by the states, however most states aren't likely to risk losing federal funds by supporting your STATE right to be a medical marijuana patient or grower.
But do verify on your own. Good luck.

Hey Everybody
I figured as much. I might have to change plans and move to Cali instead. That will offer me the opportunity to donate my excesss and get some extra coin to offset the cost of housing. As soon as I began reading about disabled people nationwide being evicted from HUD properties I knew I was screwed. Sometimes life just isn't fair but oh well. I grow great bud and I am sure some of my strains will park themselves nicely on a California dispensaries top shelf......thanks for the help. I guess I am off to find a cheap studio in Cali somewhere...Peace

Hey Everybody
Yes, it is documented. I have been on SS Disability for almost 3 years. The problem is that there is a basic template for HUD and it states that "illegal use of premises". The rule also applies in California as well. This is because federal law states that marijuana is illegal and federal government is the provider of this assistance. One of these cases was a woman in Los Angeles as well. She and her extremely elderly mother were evicted for a medical grow on HUD property. Until they change the Schedule 1 status this will continue to present a problem to many people. I think I will be okay. I know I can get a reco easily. If I can make it through a 6 month period in a cheap enough place I can keep a perpetual harvest going and make enough to afford a decent place from the excess without depending on federal assistance and getting an eviction notice pinned on the door. My strains are all medical and will be in demand, I just have to work around the obstacles at this point. My intention was initially to just supply myself but the HUD rules will make that impossible. I have seen a couple small studios already that I think I can swing long enough to get a crop and a short cure completed......Peace

Hey Everybody
Define Oregon!
If you stay out of the high population areas, you can find relatively reasonable rent and may not need HUD support.
