    Rally for Compassion!

    Hello All,

I have had some Patients and other members of the community ask why we are holding the Rally for Compassion. I would like to clear that up, as to why we are holding the Rally for Compassion. We, as the community, who are directly affected by this decision wish to be present for the Official Decision of the Health Department. Where is our Compassion in RI? We NEED SAFE, reliable sources for our medicine. We DEMAND COMPASSION and Compassion Centers.
The Rally is to EITHER get the community together to applaud the Health Dept. for issuing all three of the C.C. Licenses, or to PROTEST the Health Dept. for not issuing all or any of the licenses. Also, we will be handing out information about the NEW BILLS being proposed as well as contact information so members of the community may contact their legislators about the bills. We MUST ORGANIZE NOW so we will be ready to combat these BAD BILLS accordingly if and when the time comes.
Only the community can HELP US! WE ARE THE COMMUNITY!
Be the change you wish to see in the world.

Location: The health Dept. 10-2 Tuesday March 8th

    Rally for Compassion!

New update!! After the Health Dept. makes its announcement we will be doing a small March to the State House, to finish the Rally. Just a little demonstration for the legislators. So that they know that we have the Community to put a stop to the bills that want to take our rights away! This Demonstration will only be 10-20 minuets long. Just enough to make our presence known. Please pass on this info to everyone!! Keep Tokken diesel

    Rally for Compassion!

    Hello All,

By now everyone has heard about the Dept.'s decision to delay there decision on who they are going to award the licenses for the C.C.'s.
This is unacceptable! We are still holding the rally but now it is a protest. Pass on this info please. We need signs made stating, "Where's the compassion."
"How much longer are we going to wait." And things of that nature. The Protest for Compassion will still be at the Health Dept. Tuesday the 8th in providence at 10am-2pm and then from there we will march down to the state house to make our voices heard there. With the budget in all the headlines we the Rhode Island Medical Cannabis Community can not let our cause Go Unnoticed!
See you all there in the AM! If there are any questions please ask, when doing so hit the REPLY ALL button so that we don't ask the same questions twice. Thank you for all of your Community support.

    Keep Tokken,
    Diesel

I fail to see how this warrants a protest. Please do not flame me for this but with Dr. Gifford having recently stepped down from his position and an INTERIM director now in place, I assume the health department is having a tough time getting everything in order. As much as I wish it was, I doubt medical marijuana was one of Dr. Fine's immediate concerns upon accepting the position.

The postponement is only one week (RI.gov : Rhode Island Government : Department of Health to Announce Decision on Compassion Center(s) on March 15) and I feel ticking off the people working in the health department as well as the "community" prior to a final decision can only be contradictory to what we want to accomplish. If all centers are denied approval on the 15th, then I believe a protest is in order. Until then I feel only positive reinforcement should be considered as an appropriate means of conveying our message.

This is just my opinion. I look forward to hearing others opinions and views.

If we crywolf to many times our signs are not going to be read anymore. Please pretty please. Group the community together when the time is right. I belive that the DOH is delaying this for a valid reason.

I do hear all of your concerns. But think about the patients that have been waiting in pain and suffering for the Dept. to make a decision. They have taken 2 years to make there decision. And this is unacceptable. If the Health Dept. were to announce the names of the C.C. then we would be there to applaud them and to thank them. But as it were those are not the events that are going to take place tomorrow. So the Community will be there to show the Dept. why and tell them why they are seriously hurting the community by delaying there decision. This will be a peaceful protest with no signs bad mouthing the dept. or any negative energy towards the dept. Just there to let them know that there are patients in pain that need the centers opened like last year!

If the community spent half that amount of energy weekly, monthly and yearly to maintain a private caregiver network then the need for a rushed, over priced, profit driven compassion center would be null and the process could be done right. and protests, rallies that is old school reform expand your tactics...get supporters on a social network and instead organize an unorganized flash mob protest at multiple locations. Or flash mob the hospital, hows that, our patients are sick and suffering right well why not have their caregivers and supporters all escort them to the various state hospitals for treatment. If your case is that the state is delaying your patients treatment show them that, by having 3,000 patients show up at the emergency room all at the same time for "alternative treatments". just a thought.

I'm so Glad someone brought this up, This is a HUGE problem (and i'm sorry this is off topic) The state has a medical marijuana program BUT the states largest hospital is not run by the state and dose not allow the use of medical marijuana in any form. I have tried for my patient for years with no luck. The sick need medication, should we not start with the hospitals where are patients go when they are their sickest and in most need for medication?
