If the government and it masters at Monsanto and other frankenfood manufactures are allowed to populate the world with their genetically modified plants killing native species, will frankenweed be next??? There are a lot of wackos out there who like to fuck with Mother Nature.

SAO PAULO â?? The amount of the world's farmland given over to genetically modified (GM) crops grew 10% last year, with the United States remaining the biggest zone for the altered produce, according to a study released in Brazil Tuesday.

A total of 148 million hectares (366 million acres) are now given over to GM plantations in 29 countries, handled by 15 million farmers, according to the report by the International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-biotech Applications (ISAAA).

The United States accounts for nearly half that area, 67 million hectares, growing modified soya, maiz, cotton, rapeseed, squash, papaya, alfafa and beetroot.

Brazil was the second-biggest GM producer with 25 million hectares, much of it growing soya, maiz and cotton.

Anderson Galvao, representing the ISAAA in Brazil, said the Latin American nation was taking on GM crops so rapidly that it has doubled grain production in the past two decades.

Defenders of GM crops stress that they are more resistant to disease and insects, and are more productive.

Detractors fear the new varieties will supplant non-GM vegetation, with unknown long-term consequences for the food chain and environment. RAW

The biggest risk to us as human beings on this planet is the eventual inability to feed all the humans running around here. If we don't figure out how to manufacture more food and fast... we are in deep serious doo doo.

Mess with my weed? Not while I have friends and clones they wont.

The first step is really population control but people don't like to hear that. And how much food is actually wasted on a daily basis??? We all waste a meal that could feed another person at least once a day or so.

don't know if this is on topic or not but I thought was kind of interesting, turns out we are actually having some success with over population simply by having kids later in life and less of them. :greenthumb: so, NWO, chill out, its all cool now. :rastasmoke:

Its right on topic when the reasoning behind Frankenfoods is the starving of the world. We have food hoarded and lie about it. Some governments are starving their people intentionally. So, the frankenfoods are just one aspect in the world wide ponzi scheme being perpetrated by multi-nationals. No big mystery really, the blinders have been managed and applied well to the masses. :lol5: :twocents:

If there are really people out there who have decided that for the good of the human race we need to starve a certain percentage of folks so that the others can survive, then let me off. I don't want to be here anymore.

I don't believe this. Yes, food is being horded... but much much more is destroyed. Farmers are regularly being paid by the government to NOT farm their land! Why is this, you ask?

There is a conspiracy, but it is not happening where 99% of non-economists believe it is. The conspiracy is powered by farm subsidies and it is perpetrated on the world economy by the huge Farm Lobby and those it supports, both in politics and in the fields. Right now, Rice, Milk, tobacco, soybeans, feed grains, peanuts, cotton, wheat... and many others are being subsidized by the Federal government here in the USA.

It is hard to explain basic microeconomics to laymen but if you can believe what I say next, then you can see that the truth is that this is not the conspiracy that you read about in the Drudge report, but an economic reality that is a direct result of government subsidies. In any market economy, when government subsidizes the production of a good, it creates an increase in supply and a surplus that the economy can not purchase. It is actually cheaper to the world economy (less dead weight loss) to destroy this surplus or just pay the farmers not to produce, rather than try to warehouse it. If the world economy could support this added surplus, it would. There is only so much money to go around. The only people that gain here are the lobbies and the producers involved in this scam on the world's population.

If we got government out of the farm business entirely and allowed the markets to set an equilibrium price and quantity on all these goods, the world would be a much better place. Prices would fall and production would become much more efficient. Sadly however, government has become a quid pro quo environment where the farm lobby has amassed enough funds to be able to put politicians in their pockets and keep this fraud going. We drastically need to clean house.

The Sudan and Myanmar are starving their people. But you put it very well. Farm subsides are enjoyed by the big republican farmers and its like an addiction. All the small guys have been plowed under. I give you an A+!! :lol5:
