New to growing, a few questions.

I've found the absolute perfect spot to try my "green thumb". Absolutely no foot traffic whatsoever as far as the eye can see in any direction. It's covered in lush grass, which makes me think the soil is decent, but is there a specific way to check that? I'll list off some more questions, I think they'll be easier to answer that way.

1: Is there a specific way to prepare the soil for planting? (Eg. dig up all the grass X feet around your seed)

2: Is planting on a hill a good thing or a bad thing?

3: I live in Northern IL. What time is best to try planting a seed? (bagseed)

only thing i can suggest is clear bit of space dig up soil mix soil with some decent compost mix put back plant seeed and let it do its thing
as for times of year cant help ya there m8 not from your endz best of luck and i hope no one finds you grow spot
also get a soil testing kit it will tell you all the info NPK etc mine cost £19.99
